Returning to the Wikinut Writing Fold

A writer always writes. After two years of writing elsewhere and experimenting with different styles my 2015 writing goals are in place.

The Writer Traveller Returns

The fact that I've been away from here for two years came as quite a shock to me. I feel like the young traveller who leaves home to see the world and gets carried away with the excitement. I've been writing plenty in my absence, trying a bit of everything really. But, like the young traveller, I'm feeling the need to settle down, return to my writing roots and the writing style that I know suits me.

Finding a Balance

There has been a lot going on in my writing life, a real mish mash of styles and genres. I've ranged from my familiar memoir to research and writing local social history. I've immersed myself in the whirlwind of personal writing for social media. I've dabbled in poetry and short story writing with a little success, but not enough to excite me. I've explored ideas through writing creative non-fiction and loved the challenge involved.
Now the time has come to be more focussed, to stop trying to conquer the world in every field imaginable. I am moving toward a balance in my writing life that suits me, one that helps me achieve the goals I've set for myself.

Writing Goals for 2015

A new year is always a chance to clarify what it is you really want in life and set goals for the year ahead. That has been easy for me this year. My next book is well under way, well the research for it rather than the writing at this stage. It is a local social history that is due to be published in 2017. That may seem like plenty of time, but the amount of work involved will keep me busy right up until the due date.
I'm also experimenting more with essay type writing, and hope to be more active in this field.
And of course, there's my new blog, supporting the writing of my book - started and that's all. That needs to become a more ingrained part of writing life as well.

So, Where Does Wikinut Fit In?

With all that writing, you may wonder where on earth I'm going to find time for Wikinut. I don't blame you for thinking that. My aim here will be to explore some of the ideas I'm working on, finding what works best for me and what you, the readers respond to.
I'm looking forward to returning to the fold and resurrecting a style of writing I've abandoned for a long time. I have a busy writing year ahead

Different sites with different styles suit at various times Peter, but it's time for a return to the style that suits me best.

Great to see you again here, Val. Happy New Year to you too. I was checking your profile off and on and was happy that it was alive and knew that you would be returning to this fold.

It is in trying more than achieving we feel we have done our part and I have done it in my life my own way. Wish you success in your ventures and also looking forward to your posts here - siva
