Sand in My Shoes

I've always wanted to live in a beachy, sea-side town and now I have finally realized my dream.

Sand In My Shoes

There's a little bit of sand in my shoes, the beach was fine today.
I walked and saw the pelicans, dip and dive and play.
The porpoise were jumping in the sea and often waved to me,
The gulf was calm, the sky was bright, how lucky I am I pray.

The turtle nests are empty now, their fences put away.
The mother turtles will return next year to lay their eggs again.
The bald headed eagle in the sky is looking for a treat,
He swoops down and finds a catch for something good to eat.

The ospray always make their nests in channel markers, too.
Their babies poke their necks up high and really want what's due.
The mother ospray dives and gets a tasty fish for all,
And puts the fishes in their mouths leaving nothing left at all.

The baby ospray grow so fast, they want to fly away.
I watch and wonder if they will - today may be the day.
The sea shells are abundant now and so pretty to enjoy.
I am so happy to live near the beach my flip flops to employ.
