Robert Walpole was the first Prime Minister (PM) of Great Britain. Robert Walpole remained for longest and George Canning for shortest period in the office. William Pitt the Younger was the youngest and Henry Temple was the oldest PM of United Kingdom. Margaret Thatcher was the only lady English PM. Six English Prime Ministers, namely Spencer Compton, Henry Pelham, Charles Watson-Wentworth, William Pitt the Younger, George Canning and Henry Temple, completed their life span during their tenure.

Abstract:

Robert Walpole was the first Prime Minister (PM) of Great Britain. Robert Walpole remained for longest and George Canning for shortest period in the office. William Pitt the Younger was the youngest and Henry Temple was the oldest PM of United Kingdom. Margaret Thatcher was the only lady English PM. Six English Prime Ministers, namely Spencer Compton, Henry Pelham, Charles Watson-Wentworth, William Pitt the Younger, George Canning and Henry Temple, completed their life span during their tenure.

1 Introduction:

The Prime Minister is the political leader of the United Kingdom and is the head of the Government (Historic UK, 2012) exercising many of the executive functions nominally vested in the Sovereign. According to custom, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet (which he or she heads) are responsible for their actions to Parliament, of which they are always members (wordiq, 2010). Seven wonders, regarding English Prime Ministers, are searched out from the literature and discussed as follows:

2.1. The first Prime Minister:

Robert Walpole was the first English Prime Minister (wikipedia, 2011). Born on August 26, 1676, he began his tenure in the office of the prime minister on 4 April 1721 and continued till 11 February 1742. His age at the starting in his age was 44 years, 221 days and continued for 7,618 days. At the age of 68 years, 204 days he passed away on 18 March 1745. His lifespan was 25,040 days.

2.2 The Prime minister for highest tenure:

2.3 The Prime minister for lowest tenure:

George Canning was the English Prime Minister who continued for shortest period in his office (en.wikipedia, 2012A). Born on 11 April 1770, he began his tenure in the office of the prime minister on 10 April 1827 and continued till 8 August 1827. His age at the starting in his age was 56 years, 364 days and continued for 120 days. At the age of 57 years, 119 days he passed away on 8 August 1827. His lifespan was 25,937 days.

2.4 The Youngest English Prime minister:

William Pitt the Younger was the youngest English Prime Minister in his office (en.wikipedia, 2012B). Born on 28 May 1759, he began his tenure in the office of the prime minister on 19 December 1783 and continued till 23 January 1806. His age at the starting in his age was 24 years, 205 days and continued for 6917 days. At the age of 46 years, 240 days he passed away on 23 January 1806. His lifespan was 17,041 days.

2.5 The Oldest English Prime minister:

Henry Temple was the oldest English Prime Minister in his office (en.wikipedia, 2012C). Born on 20 October 1784, he began his tenure in the office of the prime minister on 6 February 1855 and continued till 18 October 1865. His age at the starting in his age was 70 years, 109 days and continued for 3429 days. At the age of 80 years, 363 days he passed away on 18 October 1865. His lifespan was 29,582 days.

2.6 The First Lady English Prime minister:

Margaret Thatcher was the First Lady English Prime Minister in the office(en.wikipedia, 2012D). Born on October 13, 1925, she began his tenure in the office of the prime minister on May, 4 1979 and continued till November 28, 1990. Her age at the starting in her age was 53 years, 203 days and continued for 4226 days.
