A poem I wrote about the attrocities that are being committed by politicians and rulers in the third world and how to say 'no' to their tricks and resist their oppression.

Shanty Town Chant

Oh! What a display of folly among the earthly wise
They gather to make laws for the common plebeians
Their eyes bloodshot and their countenance deadly
Each man with two gloves and an extra on the seat
Shouts and barks, touts and dogs in the palace
Let’s chant them down, shanty town chant

Some are Lawyers; some are Doctors in the palace
Some are Engineers; some are Teachers in the palace
Others are business men and careers of great honour
And the fraudsters grabbing majority of the seats
So they sold their honour and betrayed our trust
Let’s chant them out, shanty town chant

They pull off their shirts and pulled off their honour
And release the artilleries of their hearts at will
A reinvention of the Nigerian Civil War at work
Many heads broken and many waists dislocated
Many shirts torn and human rights trampled
Let’s chant them out, shanty town chant

Old, stupid and foolish men of abundant strength
Feeble, useless women of doubtful ancestry
Who let loose their nakedness in the market place
And sold their shame to the wild fox that stows away
And yet without shame, you show your face up
Let’s chant them out, shanty town chant

When the spirit of war possesses the wise and the mighty
The strength of their fist is put into practice on time
And the chairs, microphones and all turns to weapons
So they fight and fight like dogs and like touts
Hurling chairs with the machinery of their strength
Let’s chant them out, shanty town chant

So what kind of laws can dogs and touts proffer?
What kind of examples must the helpless plebeians copy?
This is a crooked system that stresses the plebeians
Yet they share millions of pounds of gold each day
And they drank millions of liters of crude each day
It’s time to chant them out, shanty town chant
