Silent at Peace

We often live our lives in hiding. Never letting the world see what we are enduring.
This is a poem about smiling for the world so others never know the pain inside.

Silent at peace

I close my tired eyes.
shiver at the blanket
then toss away my disguise.

The mask I wear so boldly
to hide what others fear to see

The demons here inside me
which teach me to be

I may see into the mirror
who I never thought I'd see

But what will tomorrow bring
when that's cast out to sea

Drink in the splendor
as sleep comes in the room

Release all the tension
This nightmare shall end soon.

Sometimes in life we find ourselves in a vicious cycle of pretending even to ourselves that we are okay, when in fact we are dying inside. We don't want to face the truth of the pain in our hearts or the thoughts in our minds. We don't want the world to know the struggles we cannot explain or those which simply embarrass us for being human. We have shame therefor we hide. often times, even from ourselves.
