Sleep is comparable to a train in the sense that for every individual it seems to arrive at a particular time. You have to be in bed in time to avail of it. If you miss it, you have to perhaps wait for long hours sleepless in bed before the next sleep train arrives.
Sleep's A Train
My doctor told me sleep’s a train,
I must board it for health and brain.
It comes and goes with long, long gaps,
So, if I miss, I wait perhaps
A long, long time till the next arrives
Running on its own, no one drives.
Sleep’s a train that travels by night
With dozy, drowsy weary light.
At a slack and slow speed it goes
Past the fields and past the meadows;
With a low noise like muffled roars,
While every rider sleeps and snores.
The weird train, of airy stuff made,
Melts away when the night does fade
So the riders who board it late
May find themselves landed prostrate
On the track when the train has vanished
With their trip only half-finished.
