Snowbirds

A poem about how Snowbirds forage for food in the long winter months, chirping and singing as they search

I’m sitting near the window
gazing at the trees
gently swaying to and fro
in winters icy breeze
a flock of tiny snowbirds
shortly did appear
Singing songs and chirping
that winter time is here

So lively and so happy
sitting on their perch
I couldn’t help but wonder
for food where do they search
I crumbled up a loaf of bread
and spread it by the trees
the little birds were happy
and I my self was pleased

I have been feeding Chickadees and Blue Jays now for weeks as they prepare for the winter ahead. I dread it myself too!
