A gentle summer rain can be just what the doctor ordered.

Soft Rain in Summer

Clouds, piercing skys of blue
Up above, always shifting
Bringing into view
Every minute something new.

I see a long tailed monkey
Suddenly become Humpy Dumpty
Two merge together
Here comes weather.

Growing dense, getting dark
Raindrops fall in the park
Hear the wind start to blow
Suddenly I see a rainbow
I bask within the warm glow
Of the sun now peeking through
And know old sol will soon renew.

Beneath my feet this good earth
Filling me with joyous mirth
The brids are singing
Through the air winging
They too are renewed
And cast me to a lovely mood.

The clouds mysteriously disappear
So too does all my fear
Spirit kisses me right here
Everything I need is near
Life is so very dear.

Within this marvelous scene
I have been washed completely clean
A soft rain in summer
Is a treat like no other.

hmm not such soft rain this summer where I am. We have had huge rain storms, with massive rain fall, and hail. One place got an amazing 6 inches of rain in a day - it made international news.

Yes, Mark. When I see Doppler it's always raining up there. You can send some our way.

Steve, I will not bore you with why a double rainbow touches my heart so much but, it does my friend. I just love a rainy summers day, as I sit on my front porch, with dogs and just listen to the gentle drops hitting the roof top. Just a perfect place to be, in my mind. Just a lovely tribute to those special times. Thank you for sharing.:)

I imagine you get wonderful soft summer rains in Phenix City, Denise. Here in Northern California it is a much rarer event. Thanks for your nice comment.

Is there no end to your talent Steve? This poem evokes such lovely images about what can be a real pain, especially after living in England for so many years where the rain at time never seemed to stop. I which I had read this poem before, perhaps I would have viewed the rainy days differently. thanks for showing me the other side of the coin.

Such a beautiful poem, Steve. I would say that a bit of rain would be nice, but it would bring the humidity with it. I think I would rather have the sunshine. :-) xoxo

Wonderful poetic flow, Steve. Had to smile as I have just submitted a poem about Summer rain, and it couldn't be any more different from this...As Phyllis said, the rain in the UK is in a class of its own...lol..

Well, to be honest, we've had only one very short summer rain here this year. California is almost completely dry in summers. Thank you Songbird - I look forward to your poem.
