Song and Dance

Wondering why people do the wrong things and then try to lie about them. Why go through all the trouble of making up stories to cover up what you've done? Isn't it easier to just do the right thing to begin with?

Song and Dance

Song and dance (n)
a. An excessively elaborate effort to explain or justify
b. An elaborate story or explanation intended to deceive or mislead

Shuffling in, the old soft-shoe
I absolutely cannot wait to hear
The tale you weave this time
Building lies upon lies
Excuse after lame excuse
Why can’t you simply do the right thing?
Wouldn’t that be easier than
Coming up with another cock-and-bull story?
There are always gaps in the plot
Things that don’t quite line up
You seem to think you’ve covered
Your trail quite nicely
Unfortunately you have missed
A few steps, forgotten
The lyrics and blown your lines
The show is a flop
I am no longer entertained
Or impressed with the song and dance
The whole routine is stale
Perhaps you need to take
Your show on the road
It may play better
Elsewhere

Wonderful Post.
It is funny how people will make up something to sound interesting, never realizing that they are great just the way they are.
