The poem constitutes an expression of the irresponsible form of male sexuality, which chiefly pursues selfish hedonistic pleasures.

Spring Orgies

You are a flower in the spring bower,
And I’ve made no blunder;
Like a honey-bee,
I’ve just drunk my fill
Upon thee;
And now you are free
To retire for a sweet slumber.
As for me,
I will be
Evermore busy
Looking for more flowers
In this fragrant forest of the randy spring.

I’ll fly left and I’ll fly right
And I’ll fly ahead and back
To all the flowers in sight;
While the downy light
Of the sun pours softly from above.

This humming spring forest
Is but a fleeting chance to harvest
A rich crop of pleasure.
With all the busy buzzing bees,
It’s a world lost in orgies.
