How do you know if you're successful in life? In your career or business? Here are some ides to get you thinking so you can define success for yourself.

How Do You Know If You're Successful?

Success means something different to each individual. How you define success might not meet my standards, and vice versa. It doesn't matter what other people's standards and measuring sticks are. You have to decide for yourself how you will measure your success in each area of your life. Here are some things to think about to get you started pinpointing your definition of success. After all, if you don't know what success looks like, how will you know you've made it?

Family: To many people, family is the number one priority. Make sure you and your spouse are on the same page as far as your goals, plans, and aspirations. Want to take a dream vacation? Figure out the cost and how long it will take you to earn and/or save up for the trip. Need to remodel the kitchen? The same concept applies.

Career - Are you satisfied in your career? Have you reached the level of achievement you want to be at? Take responsibility for your own career development and move yourself up that corporate ladder! Strive for perfection and get noticed!

Business - If you are self employed, there is a lot more pressure to succeed. There is no such thing as a reliable pay check. You have to strive harder and harder every day. But all that striving is for nothing if you don't know how to measure success. It might not be an income figure. Maybe you own a food truck business and success to you is having a fleet of 10 profitable trucks. Maybe you own a beauty salon and success means having a dozen busy stylists working in your shop.

Fitness - This is about more than numbers on a scale. Fitness involves BMI (Body Mass Index), cholesterol levels, and other figures your physician can provide. Get a yearly checkup. If you're not where you need to be, make a plan to get there before your next visit!

Don't let anyone else define success for you. Only you can define success in each area of your life. The challenge is to take the time to think about it, write it down, and set some goals. Check in with yourself to find out where you need to adjust your strategy.

In the words of my teacher: Success is purely a matter of personal inclination and the will to pursue what you believe in despite the odds.

Good tips and thought provoking. Many are carried away with wealth as the barometer of success. But beyond our needs it becomes a liability. It is up to us not to cross the limit. Wealth is only a means for a happy life - siva
