Sufi Dancing

In this Poem I am Wondering if Human life on this Planet is Spinning Out of control. Will love pull us back in from the brink of destruction? Maybe we, unlike these Sufi dancers, are unbalanced and in danger of falling off the stage. But maybe this is part of learning the discipline of the dance.

Circles Within Circles

The sun rises and sets
The world turns on its axis
Turns around the sun
Which turns around the central sun
A mystery
Circles within circles
Sacred spiral

In Tune with Heaven

Dervishes whirl in tune with heaven
Like trees grow in spirals to the sun
Fish jump leaving spirals behind
Stones thrown in ponds make spirals
My hair grows in a spiral from the crown
The prints on my fingers
Where is this poem going?

Opening to Infinity

A widening spiral opens out and opens out
Does it open to infinity and stop?
Or does it reverse and spiral in toward the center
Have we traveled from the center as far as we can go
Without losing it?
Are we about to reverse direction?
Or has the center lost its hold
Are we about to separate
And fly off alone into space
With the saying"God is everywhere"
Our only consolation?

Dancing

At some point Sufi dancers pull in their arms
And whirl back into themselves
After all the whole purpose of dancing
Is to feel the pull of the center
To do that you have to move away
Then feel it pull you back like a magnet.

Of all the world's religions I sometimes think Sufism is the best.

Profound and thought provoking C D Moore. We need more of believers in peace anytime. The whole universe and creation exist due to subtle balance. We are in danger of losing balance. Peace has triumphed over war, love against hatred, but are we becoming complacent? The stakes are getting higher with no respite in arms production and proliferation. We need a binding force to control the fissiparous forces - siva
