This is an anti-Suicide poem. Suicide is not a Sin/ Selfish.Suicidal thoughts often come from a distaughted perception brought about by depression/ low self- esteem.People who think they no longer have a life worth living would be shocked/surprised if they knew the amount of people in emotional pain that would attend their funeral. People would pay their respects and say goodbye with Love. I am not a doctor but if this poem makes just one person think twice then I am glad to have shared it.

Suicide .......A Life Poem

You could head down to London, jump down onto the underground track
Touch the third rail and there's no turning back
Your body would be jumping on the rails for the tube
Witnessing commuters would be too nauseated to move.

Your skin would be a burnt shade of black
You'd probably induce a few panic attacks
A team of trained people would recover you that day
A suicide jumper, the reason for travellers delay.

You could drive your car straight into the cold river
With windows wound down, you'd soon start to shiver
Hoping no passer-by would be there to see
You don't want any hero trying to rescue and free.

Simple and effective would be to take some pills
They tell me the insurance still won't settle unpaid bills
Washed down with a pint of strong whisky
If it fails the permanent damage to the body is highly risky.

You could jump from a bridge, under the wheels of a speeding train
As with all suicides you'd leave behind untold pain
The driver of course would never be the same
Filmed suffering from shock, his three minutes of fame.

You could lie in the bath and slit your wrists
Not fun for the hubby when he gets home with the kids
Discovering a bath full of your watery red blood
After the funeral they'd leave the neighbourhood.

Suicide when your depressed can seem an escape, even a good plan
But look around and think of the effects on your fellow man
Distraught children, partner, family and friends
Their true problems begin when your life ends.

Think long and hard about those left behind
Guiltily wondering why they didn't see the signs
Your life will be over but you won't set any of them free
If things seem bad now, for them, it'll become worse, don't you see?

Life continually lets all of us down
Sometimes you feel you wear a permanent frown
Hold on, be strong and I promise you'll get through
We're all on the ship of life and you're part of the crew.

Thankyou for sharing your pain SunRayz. Suicide is not a selfish act or a sin but for some a last resort escape from a very dark place where life has become distorted.I know many people through my church who have lost the people they love and they like you suffer everyday and will continue to and light to you.

Thankyou for your kind words SongbirdB. When people are in the pit there seems no escape and patience was never my strongest point and light to you.

This was a powerful poem! My mother committed suicide when I was a teenager and almost took my sister and I with her. I know first hand the devastation that is left behind. Thank you, blackangelwings...
