Summer Laze

A poem, observing how I like to spend my summer days, kicking back in the shade, or tucked away in the air conditioning. Doing next to nothing, enjoying the sunshine.

Lazy summer night
in front of the AC

days, sitting in the shade
of a towering old tree

listening to the birds
singing their own tune

the scent of rain in the air
early Ohio June.

something about colors around
scratching of fleas, that old coon hound

sipping from a glass of tea
the ice clinking in the glass

lounging in the luxury of life
soak it up now, as with any season, it will never last.

Summer to autumn
the leaves will fade and then fall

dormant to winter
snow on the ground

cycle of life
re introduction at Spring

waiting for summer
to come around once again...
