Tavern Advertisements Were a common means of advertising in the ninteenth century for Pubs, Taverns, and Inns. Signs hung over doorways inviting travellers to come inside.

Tavern Advertisements

In the City St, John’s
in the century nineteen
the population was small
but many booze joints were seen
there was certainly no shortage
of Pubs, Taverns, or Inns
with signs over the doorways
to invite travellers in
Tavern Advertisements Were a common means of advertising in the ninteenth century for Pubs, Taverns, and Inns. Signs hung over doorways inviting travellers to come inside.

Many signs were artistic
depicting a scene
of ships or of animals
or some other theme
whatever the picture
they had one thing in mind
to get folks inside
and to drink themselves blind

When they entered those taverns
they felt they were in heavens!
