Teaching a lesson to others. Is there ever really ever a need to do this?

I read a book recently where some Indian spiritual master got pleasure from teaching other people lessons.

He thought that as the so called "Godman", that he could do this.

Nobody has the right to teach another person a lesson, not even a "Godman" like him.

How could he ever know what another person needs to learn?

Only love ever knows that. All lessons come to us from love.

Lessons can come to us from the love in such a guru, but not if he's changed it in any way for his own purposes.

Does love itself teach us lessons about life, and living?

Have we got the right to ever teach someone a lesson, and to then say about that, “Well, that will serve them right, or they deserved that, they had that coming?”

No, love never does this, or does it?

It is only the lower emotional attachments of desire, mixed in with the apparent credibility of non-acceptance, which belies or hides the real truth, that all people and all other things, are acceptable, and worth loving.

To take a high stand lowers you away from love, even as Jesus Christ once said, that the one who takes the high place will end up in the lower, and the one who takes the low place will end up in the high.

Here is one place in the Christian bible where he expresses this nicely.

This particular verse comes from Saint Luke's gospel, chapter 14, verse 11.

“For all those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

This is not literally true however, but it is spiritually true. It is the that way things really work.

This is so because when you accept the lowness, it elevates you to the highest, but then when you are there now, you will then see there is no highest or lowest places existing really at all.

All is love loving. All are equal in that love.

Love teaches, without teaching, without love. Love teaches love with love.

I asked the question of love above, (see the first section) because it is only love that can teach us our lessons of growth into the truths of love, so that we can increase in the wisdom, and understanding of these truths of love.

This is the paradoxical nature of love.

Love sort of teaches without teaching, and this means that everything that we do, can be both a lesson for us, as well as for anyone else to be given a chance to be able to see the truth of that experience too, that is if they have the eyes to see, and if they are ready to receive the higher understanding about this particular truth of love.

"He who has ears to hear, let him hear."

Jesus tells us this very simply, in the bible. This above verse comes from Saint Matthew's gospel, chapter 11, verse 15.

"Everyone has challenges and lessons to learn - we wouldn't be who we are without them."

This quote is from the American musician, Sean Combs (better known as Puff Daddy).

b]"Everyone has challenges and lessons to learn - we couldn't be who we are without them."

I could change one letter in his quote to change it to the above one instead too.

He is saying that our lessons make us who we are, but I am saying that we are who we are already, and that the lessons come to us from love, so that we can, not so much become who we are, but to more give up our being the false self, that most of us are trying to improve instead.

The idea is to become conscious of our real self, and to be it then consciously in our other selves then too. Our other selves include here our physical self, our emotional self, and our mental self.

Two quotes about God and loving

"There is no need to run towards the Ocean. Just slowly enjoy the trees, and the birds, and the people, having a trust in your heart that every river has always reached the Ocean so you cannot be the exception. Existence does not allow any exceptions. You will also reach the Ocean."

This first quote comes from the Indian spiritual teacher, Osho, (1931 to 1990).

Here is my own version of his quote:

"There is no need to run towards love. Just slowly enjoy the trees, and the birds, and the people, having a trust in your heart that every river always also contains the same love within itself as the Ocean, you cannot be the exception. Existence does not allow any exceptions. You can also be that love."

"There are only two ways to live your life. One, is as though there are no miracles. The other is as though everything is a miracle."

This second quote comes from that great physicist, Albert Einstein (1879 to 1955).

And here is my version of his quote.

"There are only two ways to live your life. One, is as though there is no God. The other is as though everything is God."

How do these two quotes relate to the topic here of our wanting sometimes to teach someone else a lesson though?

Loves lives in all people without them seeing it there sometimes.

The two people behind these quotes saw that love as being a miracle, and as being the ocean that contains all else.

Love teaches itself to itself then because we are all a part of love unconsciously living in the ocean of that love called God. We are here to become conscious of this, and to recognise ourselves within God, and then to take our rightful place in God's kingdom consciously, rather than just being there unconsciously.

We bring learning to God in this way, as well as to ourselves, because love becomes an open book then that we can read its truths from consciously, instead of it forever just remaining closed to us always.

I feel that you are right and that love is all there is. We are all a part of what we call God, in fact God is everything. Pleased to see that you are still writing here. I have been waiting to see how many of my friends are going to continue here since wikinut is no longer a paying sit. Blessings.

Good that you are still putting your best foot forward here Spirited despite the changes. I hope to do so too in my own way. Sad many seem to be inactive; there is a palpable void.

The best lessons are learned from our experiences, more so from bitter ones! Yes, we have to keep our minds, eyes, ears open to absorb the love inherent in the creative process; nothing is wasted at all as everything matters and has a purpose.

Though some believe in the need for gurus, I rather would like to go through the process myself - understanding the subject is better than memorizing to pass the exams - siva

thanks siva,

I don't think it is as cut and dry as that.

We can and always will go through the process ourselves for ourselves.

Memorizing like you say, is not necessary either, but others can provide insights at time, that help to open our curtain, and shine some hidden light through it, when we are intent on keeping it closed with our blocked minds.

As Kingwell said, some are probably still waiting in the shallows to see who will still venture with them into the deeper waters still out there to explore.

Agree with you Spirited, we need the wise to hold our hands when we baulk to venture into deeper waters as otherwise we will forever be at the shallow end! siva
