The Ballerina

A poem about a ballerina - and how hard she worked to become the best in her ballet troop.

The Ballerina

The ballerina that I know,
Is always dancing on her toes.
She practices dance throughout the day,
And at the barre she does a plie.

She bends and stretches oh so much,
And then she does a pas de deux.
She wears out shoes - six pair a day,
And then she tosses them away.

Those shoes have very hard toes, you see,
Her feet are sore and sometimes bleed.
She puts some cotton in the tip,
And hopefully will have a good grip.

Once the music starts then she,
Will dance a pirouette for me.
She spins and spins and spins some more,
Without falling on the floor.

I love the watch the full ballet,
Dance with costumes full array.
The tutus move to music sweet,
This, to watch, is always neat!

My very favorite, loved ballet,
Is Swan Lake, I want to say.
The music stirs my very soul,
The Black Swan is my favorite role.
