The Chapel of Sacred Heart...Casting Our Love Away

Sometimes it is in the memories of days gone by that spurs our dreams, and other times these dreams are sparked in the pages of forgotten books.

The Chapel of Sacred Heart

The Chapel of Sacred Heart

I remember the shinning days
Spent recklessly
In the corrupted years of youth.
Us boys
Standing bravely
With the applause of autumn leaves
Crunching under feet.

The Thinning Shadow

A thinning shadow
Of a fading ghost
Lost within the haze
Of church going days,
Like the little fallen flowers
That wilted
In the afternoon sun.

A Dusty Memory

A dusty memory

Made even more ghastly
Under moonlight skies,
Casting away our puppy love
And putting our bedroom dreams
Over our shoulders,
Waiting for brighter days,

As the Daisy Nuns

As the Daisy Nuns
Over at Sacred Heart Chapel
Fluttered by in their little line
One by one,
Eating white bread
And buttered buns

Cut into geometric shapes.

There Thin Lips

Their thin lips
Uttering words we dare not share,
Or mimic their dress,
Thinking precious thoughts
While hiding the scent of gum-drops
Under our breath.

Can't You See

Can’t you see that these
Are the simple things,
The honest things,
That now only exist
In the empty pages
Of unread books
That no-one dares
To remember.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

I really like what you wrote, while hiding the scent of gum-drops. This is a lovely poem. You are a great poem.

No one dares to remember lest we are labeled as living in the past.

Love your imagery in words.

melancholically sad, yet forever giving hope too, your poems evoke such rich emotions in us Utah Jay.

Funnily I was to be part of The Sacred Hearts nunnery at one point. Know the way it used to be looking at pearly white teeth of Mother Good Shepherd for inspiration for music.
Any way, those were the good old days, was to study there as a child too but parents grew scared as they saw my affinity towards the nunnery because of my clothing and style and yes hot cross buns were more their style too.

None the less, their lifestyle suits me fine now as I pray a lot and learnt I am not a relationship kind of person and send all the men back with halos on their head to dance their naked women wherever they thought suitable as I am not one of them. I have Altar Boy too with the Nun and the priest around, so its all good.

Thanks LeRain. And I know what you mean about living in the past, I'm just too old and too ornery worry about such things, besides I like living in the past...I had more means back then.

Dear Carol, it is sad indeed to be left alone, but not the end of the world...Better things are on the rise for you, I just know they are.
