The 2014 Commonwealth Games hosted by my home town of Glasgow... began on Wednesday 23rd July, with a grand and spectacular opening ceremony.. Read on to find out more.

Just Fandabidozi...(fantastic)

The organisation behind the of the opening ceremony was extremely impressive.

The fantastic celebratory atmosphere was electric.. as Glasgow warmly welcomed the athletes and the people of the Commonwealth Nations to our City.

The opening ceremony was packed with Scottish flavour, creating a very special and most memorable event.

The Queen Arrives At Celtic Park...

Her Majesty The Queen entered the stadium at celtic park accompanied by Prince Philip to carry out her duty as The Head Of The Commonwealth in formally opening the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

Oh The Banter Of The Baton...

The Queen's Baton arrived In Glasgow having travelled 100,000 miles throughout the Commonwealth.

The Queen's Baton is the symbol of friendship between nations, which contained a message from the Queen herself, safely stored inside it.

We just had a 'wee bit of bother' getting it opened ha ha!

The Queen then officially declared the 2014 Commonwealth Games open, in front of an audience of 40,000, at Glasgow's Celtic Park, and a televised Global audience of a billion people.

We Welcome The Athletes Of The Commonwealth....So Come On In You Lot..

The athletes parade into the opening ceremony was a spectacular scene of unity, warmth, music, vivid colour and excitement.

Many of the athletes danced as they paraded round the stadium, surrounded by the explosive and rapturous welcome extended by the people of Glasgow.

Thank you so very much Stella, it was a wonderful occasion...and yes my friend, my family and I were there in the crowd, such an honour for Glasgow to have been chosen to host the games, we also saw the baton being carried down our street on Tuesday, Siobhan filmed it all on her phone..thank you for your 'gold rating' my love xx I am a bit disappointed that it didn't get on to the star pages because it's a once in a lifetime for my home town which was watched on television all over the world too, and the commonwealth games involve 71 nations who all have access to the internet, Never mind, it was fun to write
God bless you too Stella, my love always..your wee hen xxx
