I like school especially when the teacher reads us a story.I'm very upset with an author called Mother Goose - she is really sadistic.

Fun At School

I like school and it’s a lot of fun. There are 20 kids in my class and Danny, Mitchell and Noah all sit near me. We don’t spent a lot of time sitting though, because there are lots of toys to play with and we also have a story time. Everyone brings a snack for break time too. One day Elizabeth left her snack at home and some of her friends shared with her. The teacher said that sharing is a really neat thing to do and everyone agreed. Miss White (that’s our teacher’s name) brought some goldfish to school today. There were six of them and they live in a big tank of water. We watched them swimming around and Miss White told us their names. Later she read a story about two goldfish, but I don’t think it’s really true because goldfish don’t talk and I’m not sure of the part about them going to the supermarket either. I’ve gone there with mom lots of times and I know that I’ve never seen any. I think that most stories are make-believe anyway, but reading is still a lot of fun, I can’t wait until I learn.

Mom went back to work with Dr. Simms, it seems that the other lady only wanted to work part time, and she’s also having a new baby soon. I’m sure she would want to stay home with her baby just like mom wanted to be with me all the time. I wonder what it would be like being a little baby again? For some reason I can’t remember a thing about it!

Mother Goose

Miss White read us some nursery rhymes in school today, that’s those little poems written by someone called Mother Goose. Some of her work is good but I don’t think she’ll ever be one of my favorite authors, in fact sometimes she’s downright sadistic! Can you imagine someone running after three blind mice, much less cutting off their tails with a carving knife? Yet Mother Goose seems to think it’s funny! Doesn’t she realize how scared the poor things must have been? Talk about putting yourself in someone else’s shoes! Wasn’t it bad enough that they were blind – and probably very hungry too? I don’t know about the others, but personally I felt very sorry for the mice.

This is by no means an isolated incident either- (ahem, maybe I should think about being a lawyer) oh no, there’s also the case of three blackbirds being baked in a pie, and a maid losing her nose – even though she was the only one in the household who seemed to actually be doing any work. That’s only two examples – oh the stories I could tell! I may start a petition to make Mother Goose stop using the name “Mother“, I think it’s a disgrace to motherhood!

Children know what is right more than adults as we tend to overlook inconvenient truths!

Thanks Kingwell, keep them coming to open our eyes and ears - siva
