I enter Junior High and find that things are changing fast. I take an interest in girls.

Junior High

There is one thing I’ve noticed about Junior High, everyone is a little nervous at first but all try to hide it and act cool. It quickly became obvious to me that my classmates were as apprehensive as I was during the first few weeks of school. By November though, even the most timid had adapted, and school took on its usual routine. There were differences of course like the emphasis placed on sports and other extracurricular activities. Danny soon began to show himself as quite a jock in most sports but especially football, where he appears headed for the school’s rookie of the year award. Being of slimmer built and without much athletic ability, sports have never been my strong point, instead I find myself drawn towards the school’s arts program. Acting and dance intrigue me although most boys avoid it like the plague.

An Interest In Girls

Noah too, appears to be turning his life around after leaving home to live with an older sister, who herself had left at sixteen when she became pregnant, and refused to give up her child. She married the baby’s father who was just eighteen at the time, and despite their ages and the dire predictions of family and friends, are still together seven years later. Noah’s parents, who felt they had tried everything to help him but without success, agreed with the move. Here at school Noah has taken to gymnastics to work off his frustrations and appears to be succeeding. As his physique improved so has his attitude and he appears happier than I’ve seen him in months. He confided in me last week that he likes this girl, Sara and is thinking of asking her to be his girlfriend, but I think he’s a little scared that she’ll say no. Danny, being the jock that he is, has tons of girls drooling over him. I haven’t told anyone, but I like Cherrie, who also went to our old school but I didn’t pay any attention to her at the time. I remember that mom always invited her and some other girls to my birthday parties when I was little.

Being Myself

I often wonder why some kids try so hard to get everyone to like them even if it means pretending to be someone they’re not. I think I just want to be myself and hope that people like me for who I am. I have a feeling that the next few years are going to be difficult enough without any added stress. Of course, mom and dad have always been fair and honest with me and I’ve never for a moment, doubted their love. Sadly, I’ve learned that for some kids, that isn’t always true.

Max is loved by mom and dad and that matters more than anything else at this time. Sad nowadays people are on the move all the time changing jobs and life partners at the first sign of storms forgetting their children's ability to cope at a young age.

Nice writing with message of life and love, thanks Kingwell - siva

"There is one thing I’ve noticed about Junior High, everyone is a little nervous at first but all try to hide it and act cool." This line resonated with me so much. Boys usually have an interest in girls in junior high school.
