A collection of sad poems for those who have suffered the loss of a special love

The Cup of Pain

Frozen in that last tangible moment of existence
Her hollow thoughts disperse into the empty night
Tasting the bitter drink of regret
Whispers of possibilities no longer call to her

Her soul cries out into the darkness
Clutching onto a mere wisp of an old belief
Her lungs shutter with each new breath
Keeping her within its painful grasp

Utterly destroyed by the incompleteness of her reality
An unwanted companion of sorts
Within her grasp; the cup of pain
She drinks in his absence begrudgingly

Wondering how a vessel of such misery
Found its way to her un-wanting table
In all its gaudy adornment
Simply holding its tragic message

Fragmented thoughts invade her
Crying out, no sounds escape
Pain is just a simple compromise
Stagnating in everlasting grief

The foul stench of remorse and bitterness
Surrounded by memories of what could have been
A tattered soul lost in this despicable nightmare
She no longer believes in fairy tales
