It is a Davis and the Goliath story being reenacted in Delhi the capital of India where the Aam Admi Party (The Common Man's Party) is fighting Modi's BJP, the behemoth. It is likely that the fledgling AAP will have a comfortable majority. The author explains the reasons and the fallout of this election.

The Delhi elections!

Every exit poll has predicted a victory for AAP, their difference only being in the number of seats that would be won by the fledgling party.

BJP had committed many mistakes in its poll plan and preparedness. The attempt to break AAP and woo some of its members to enable it form a government backfired. The long rope given by the Lt. Governor for the formation of the government, in the face of a split mandate was laughable, as such government could have been only formed by horse-trading and corruption.

Modi Shah combine overestimated themselves and dismissed the factional warlords like Harsh Vardhan and Vijay Goel, who apparently cold shouldered the idea of of an outsider Kiran Bedi being thrust as the CM nominee of the BJP. This move could have been the single decisive wrong move by the BJP affecting their chances.

If the chivalry shown by AAP in quitting governance was resented by most Delhiites, it was compensated by the the unkept tall promises strewn by Modi all along his earlier election campaigns. The ‘bringing all the black money within 100 days of the formation of BJP government,’ was a grave mistake not to be forgotten and forgiven by the voters.

The right fringe parties too contributed to the poll debacle, with their ‘Ghar Wapasi’ and vandalising of churches, earning a reprimand even from the visiting American President.

Though BJP would try to isolate the results as insignificant and irrelevant, one cannot ignore that the formidable image of Modi and his master poll manager-cum-party president Amit Shah are dented.

The poll results will give the much needed adrenaline shot to the listlessly wandering regional satraps, who all are likely to rally around Arvind Kejriwal to fight the behemoth called BJP.

For the AAP, they should stop theatrics, which formed a larger part of their 49 days stint ruling Delhi and focus on development.

Democracy and people power prevails!

From ancient days, India has been for respecting all not vandalizing and splitting the country in the name of religion or caste. Who brought caste here?

Caste was not all evil in olden days, but was given a twist to exploit in the later period. I will try and explain by a seperate article. Regards.

The middle path is still the best way - those who want to highlight their faith should show by example, live up to the ideals than paint another negatively. Modi should not allow fringe elements to dictate agenda. Let democracy win, thanks for this share, Kumar - siva
