A vow from a dying man to his wife that his love live on forever.

The Dying Vow

As he lay there in his dying bed,
I overheard the words he said,
As he held her hand and spoke his final vow.
I’ve heard a lot of touching words,
But the sweetest thing I ever heard,
Still plays upon my heartstrings even now.

He said his love will never die,
And if she looks up in the sky,
She’ll see that he is waiting for her there.
The brightest star beside the moon,
Will shine down so much brighter soon,
To let her know how much he really cares.

He slipped off into endless sleep.
I saw her smile she didn’t weep.
She kissed his cheek and then she turned away.
She walked out in the moonlit night
And found that star that shined so bright,
And knew she’d be with him again someday.

Well, several years have passed since then
And now she walks with him again.
I knew that it would work out just that way.
Cause I remember long ago,
Just how those words impressed me so,
The words that I had heard my daddy say.

He said his love will never die,
And if she looks up in the sky,
She’ll see that he is waiting for her there.
The brightest star beside the moon,
Will shine down so much brighter soon,
To let her know how much he really cares.

Those who pass on can shower their love moreso and watch over their loved ones, even as they patiently wait for them to join. Thanks Don, for a touching poem - siva

Thanks, Songbird, but I'm limited to an old man's brain.
