While everyone was sleeping the museum burned to the ground. The fire crews worked through the night to put the fire out. The team was going to wake up to breaking news and Freddy was going to be beside himself for falling asleep at a critical time.

Early morning news report

Freddy jolted awake in his fish bowl. There was an alert on the television of breaking news. Freddy had his eyes glued to the fish bowl. He wondered what was going on this early in the morning. They flashed a picture of a burning building. The news reporter was talking about the museum. Freddy couldn't believe it. He'd slept through the most important news of the night. What was wrong with him anyway? He was going to have to start taking vitamins or something. There was no time to sleep in the middle of an investigation.

The morning snow

Molly woke up just before dawn. She crawled out of bed and tiptoed down the steps to keep from waking anybody up. She heard the television on and walked into the living room. There was breaking news on the screen. Molly couldn't believe her eyes. There was a picture of the museum burning with firemen dragging hoses and going in and out of the building. The reporter said that the museum had been a total loss. Molly just stood there. She couldn't believe it. Now what were they going to do. All their clues went up in smoke. The Fire Captain was talking and he said it might have been caused by careless smoking. They were sending investigators to the scene. Molly looked over at Freddy and he seemed to be in shock. Molly sat down right where she was and continued to listen to the news update. The weather man came on and said that the snow crews had been working on the roads and they appeared to be passable. Of course there was still snow everywhere. The blizzard had left everything covered in snow.

Investigating the fire

Mom was the next one to get up. Molly heard pots and pans in the kitchen and she smelled coffee brewing. Soon everybody would be up and they could have breakfast. Freddy appeared to be coming out of shock as he continued to watch the news. Molly wondered what Dad was going to say. This turn of events was not good. Molly heard Dad walking down the steps and she called him into the living room. He came in and listened quietly to the news reporter. The color was draining from Dad's face. He sat down on the couch and listened as the Captain of the fire department talked about the fire. When the segment was over Dad turned to Molly and said that they were going to have to go over to the museum. Molly really didn't want to go out in the snow but it looked like they had no choice. She knew when they were in the middle of an investigation they had to do things they didn't like to do. They were professionals so they'd being going out in the cold today. She planned to go with Dad but there would be no possible way that Milly would venture outside. Molly picked up the phone and called Robert. The minute he had heard what happened he said he would be right over.

Making plans for the day

Everybody ate a good breakfast. Mom made the best bacon. She made it crisp just the way Molly liked it. Her scrambled eggs were good too because she added cream. When Dad was finished eating he went to get dressed. He told Molly he was going to take the van out on the road. The repair shop said the van was good to go so he wanted to drive it. Molly wasn't so sure that was a good idea but at least there was heat in the van. The car heater wasn't working and Molly really didn't like being cold. She wasn't as bad as Milly but she figured it would be better to take the van. Molly saw Robert walking across the road. It looked like it was freezing outside. She opened up the front door to let Robert in. He was shaking from the cold. Molly heard the back door shut. Dad was going outside to warm up the van. Robert and Molly waited in the kitchen for Dad to blow the horn. This morning it would only be Dad, Robert and Molly going to investigate the fire.

The team is going to keep the pressure on, weather notwithstanding! Dad blowing the horn means he is more of a team player now - not driving away furtively alone!

There is more to this fire than a mere accident for sure.

Your images are just right and all sourced from Wikimedia Commons and I am sure it really takes time to pick the right ones.

Great going Nancy - siva
