The Fire Marshall notified the team that the museum fire was arson. Molly did some research and found out where the curator lives. Robert and Molly have told a small fib to Dad and said they needed to go to the Library. They are now in route.

The snow covered roads

Robert and Molly are in the van with Dad. Molly is sitting upfront and Robert is in the back. They've both got their seatbelts on because the roads are treacherous. The van was slipping and sliding all over the road. Molly was saying her prayers that they would get to the library in one piece. She had told Dad she wanted to do some research at the library. Dad agreed to take them to do their research. The library stayed open till 9:00 and it was almost 8:00 now. Dad wanted to stop and see the Police Captain so he said he would give them one hour and he'd be back to pick them up. Molly felt bad about telling Dad a story but he would never go along with their plan. Dad had to be kept in the dark for now.

Gaining access to the curator's house

Dad dropped Molly and Robert off in front of the library. Molly watched Dad pull away and then they entered the library. Molly had been here many times with mom so she knew right where the back door was located. Molly and Robert walked through the library trying not to look conspicuous. One lady looked at them but then her little daughter went running off in another direction and she took off after her. They got to the back door in record time. Robert opened the door and held it for Molly. He was such a gentleman. Once outside they started running and didn't stop until they got to the curator's house. It was Fortunate for Molly that Robert had a special skill for getting into locked places. It was freezing outside and Molly wanted to get into the warm house. Robert had the back door open in under 30 seconds. Molly couldn't help but think that Robert was a genius at this particular moment. That would change later on but that was how she felt right now. Robert went in first to make sure the coast was clear. When he motioned for Molly to come in she knew the curator wasn't home. They were going to have to work fast.

Searching the house

When they came in the back door they were standing on a landing. They could go one of two ways. They could either go up the steps or down the steps to a family room. Molly chose to go up and Robert chose to go down. They agreed to work quickly. Lucky for Robert he could see good in the dark. It was warm in the family room and it felt good after being in the cold. Robert walked around the room looking for anything of interest. It didn't take long to spot something that caught his eye. The arrowheads that he had first seen at the museum were sitting on a coffee table in the center of the room. Robert would remember them anywhere because they caught his interest the first time he saw them at the museum. There were all kinds of arrowheads on the table. There was a possibility that the missing arrowheads were also on the table. Robert wasn't sure but the police report would have a description of the missing items. The curator was up to something but Robert just couldn't put his paw on it yet.

Going back to the library

Molly was on the move from the time she reached the top of the landing. She went through the kitchen looking every which way as she went around the room. The one thing she noticed more than anything was that this guy was definitely not neat or tidy. The sink was filled with dishes and the trash can was overflowing. Mom would never put up with something like this. She went through the living room and the two bedrooms but she didn't see anything of interest. She made it back to the landing as Robert came up the steps. They had been in the house for approximately thirty minutes and they seriously needed to get out of here before the curator got home. Robert opened the door and Molly went out into the cold and Robert shut the door and followed her. It was really cold outside. On the way back to the library Robert told Molly what he had discovered. She tucked the info away in her memory banks for a later date. They had to beat Dad back to the library.

Going home

As they came around the corner they spotted Dad's van in the front of the library. They stayed near the bushes out of site and went in the library through the back door. The librarian was just getting ready to lock the doors. They hurried up and went out the front door and walked slowly to the van. Dad was reading a report when they got inside. They put their seat belts on and Dad took off for home. Molly breathed a sigh of relief. Nobody would know that they had been out and about tonight.

Carol, thank you so much for your comment. I think Robert and Molly did good too! If Dad found out what they did they'd both be in trouble. I think he will thank them in the long run. I wonder what will happen next. I'm not even sure! LOL The team writes the story.

Siva, thank you so much for the awesome comment. I like the way you call Robert and Molly sleuths. That's exactly what they are and they really are professionals. It's amazing what they are willing to do and they have no schooling to back them up. Except maybe doggie obedience school but I don't think that counts. I'm so thankful that you are continuing to read the team's story and that you like the images. Smiles to you today and always!

With the dog picture, I kept expecting "a barking dog" drawing attention to these two. Lol. Great job on the story. :-)

Simply outstanding. Why not bring out a hard bound or paperback Novel on these characters and their mission

Nancy, another great chapter . I agree, with Ptrikha, you should think about publishing. I think, a told, you once before, that my 17 year old loves you story as well.
