Team spent the day at the museum and are heading home. Katie found their first clue. They dropped off the evidence at the forensics lab and are going to drop the girls off at the pet store. There's a blizzard outside and the van is acting up. Clarissa and Katie are just hoping they make it back to the pet store.

Trying to get home

The van is making terrible sounds. Clarissa has never heard sounds like this before. The van was shaking so bad that at one point Milly fell off the seat. Molly told everybody to put their seat belts on and Katie was saying her prayers. She was sitting up front with Dad because of her motion sickness and when she looked over at Dad he looked worried. That in itself was not a good sign. Molly didn't want to scare anybody but there was a good chance the van would stall and they'd be stuck on the side of the road.

The team is in peril

By this time the van was inching along at a very slow speed and it was shaking, sputtering. Robert was trying to figure out what to do. He was just hoping Dad had roadside assistance because if not someone was going to have to walk for help. That someone would probably be him. Just as Robert suspected the van quit but luckily Dad got it off the road. Now the whole team was in the van in a blizzard with no help in sight. They were about 5 miles from the pet store and home was ever farther. Thank goodness Dad had his cell phone and he called mom for help. Mom called a tow truck and they were now waiting for someone to come and get them out of this mess. Rusty was sitting in the back seat shaking his head. If it got much colder the girls would be in trouble. Spike found a blanket on the floor and he covered both girls up with it. He didn't want them to lose body heat. That would be very bad. Katie started to cry and Milly let Katie sit on her lap. They were definitely in a bad situation but she knew help would come.

Thinking happy thoughts

Clarissa didn't know what to do. She decided to think happy thoughts until the tow truck driver appeared. This month was Thanksgiving and Mom had invited everybody for dinner. It would be her first holiday with a real family. Clarissa was really looking forward to it and she was trying to decide what she would bring. Mom always set a nice table so maybe she could bring a decoration to add to the festivities. Milly had told her all about the pumpkin pin and how delicious it would be. Molly had told her they would have turkey but not to worry because the turkey wouldn't be anyone they knew. Mom said she bought frozen turkeys at the grocery store.

Help arrives

Robert was the first one to see the tow truck pull up. It was starting to get really cold in the van so he was happy to see help arrive. Dad got out and talked to the driver. Then he motioned for everyone to get out of the van and get into the tow truck. They guy was really nice and didn't seem to mind when everyone got in his truck. It was pretty high up so Robert had to help Clarissa and Katie. Molly jumped in but Milly also needed help. It was so nice and warm in the cab. Everybody said a prayer of thanks. The tow truck driver hooked up the van and dropped it off to get fixed. Then because he was such a nice guy he took the girls home to the pet store and dropped Maggie, Spike and Miss Darcy off in the park. His last stop was Molly's house. Everybody got out and waved to the driver as he drove down the street. He was such a nice man. Milly thought maybe they could invite him for Thanksgiving.

The team got a real jolt but that only strengthened the bond within them.

Good that the turkey bird is not yet a team member as it could have become toast soon! It would be quite demoralizing for the team then! Just joking!

I heard the bird Turkey is called American in Turkey the country!

The weather is taking its toll. The team cannot afford to let down its guard but a breakthrough has been made already, thanks Nancy - siva

Carol, thanks for your wonderful comment. I've cooked Thanksgiving dinner every Thanksgiving for many years. I always make sure to invite friends that have no place to go for a holiday dinner. I cook for at least three days before and it's so much work but I do love it.
