Dad is driving Robert and Molly home from the library. They were actually doing undercover work at the curator's house. They had to be slick and tell Dad they needed to go to the library. Dad has no idea what the team has discovered. Mum is the word of the night.

Arriving home to the scents of the holiday

Molly was glad to be home. The streets had been snow covered and the ice was starting to build up everywhere. If made for a treacherous ride on the city streets. Robert was planning on spending the night. Molly wanted to go over everything they'd learned during their undercover mission. They planned to keep everything to themselves until they could figure out what was really going on. When they walked through the front door Molly saw cookies on the dining room table. They were obviously for Thanksgiving. Molly had no idea how Mom planned to keep everyone away from them until the big day. Christmas cookies were Milly's favorite and she would sneak one every chance she got. That was a fact. The house smelled so good, it was like vanilla and cinnamon mixed together. This just happened to be Molly's favorite time of year. Mom would make everything very festive.

Thinking about the big day

Dad had the fireplace on and Freddy was watching the news. He just nodded his head as Molly walked by. There was a segment on the news about a sink hole and for some reason Freddy found this particularly interesting. Why Molly didn't know because unless the sink hole was in their backyard Molly would never give it a second thought. Freddy lived for this type of news. He was not what Molly would call a normal fish by any means of the word. She was excited for Freddy to experience his first Thanksgiving with a real family. It would be nice to have him at the celebration. The only problem that Molly could see was that on Thanksgiving everyone came in the living room to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade. It was a tradition and Molly wasn't sure how Freddy would handle that because Dad would switch the channel and turn off the news. She just hoped Freddy would not need therapy after it was all said and done.

Rusty is getting anxious about the turkey

Molly walked into the kitchen with Robert right behind her. Mom was putting the finishing touches on some fancy cookies. Grandma and Grandpa would be coming for the holiday along with aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom had also invited the whole team over for dinner. Molly loved all the excitement in the air but Mom really got stressed as the big day got closer and closer. Mom said Rusty was in his room pouting. For a raccoon he certainly was emotional around the holidays. He was worried about the turkey. Mom told him several times that the turkey was from the grocery store. Rusty wanted to make sure it wasn't a turkey that they knew on a first name basis. Mom told him that they would never eat a friend. The turkey was bought in the frozen food section of the grocery store. Molly just sighed because there was nothing she could do with Rusty. Robert and Molly watched Mom put the sprinkles on her last batch of cookies. They sure were beautiful when Mom finished decorating them.

A snowy night

Molly told Mom that she was going to take Robert in the den to watch a movie. Dad was asleep in the family room and they didn't want to disturb him. They also wanted complete privacy to talk about the undercover operation. Robert closed the door to the den and they sat down to talk about what they'd learned. Molly looked out the window and was glad they were home because the snow was coming down again. So far they knew for a fact that the curator had a lot of the arrowheads in the lower level of his house. The question was what was he doing with them? Molly thought maybe he had a high bidder for the arrowheads. There was a possibility that the buyer was willing to pay a lot of money for them. That made no sense to Robert though because someone went as far as burning the museum down to cover their tracks. How much would an arrowhead be worth anyway? Molly wondered if there could be some kind of sentimental value to them. Robert said she sounded like a girl when she said that. He said girls were always sentimental. Molly just glared at him. She was going to research the curator's background a little further and see what she could come up with. Molly and Robert talked into the night and Robert fell asleep in Dad's chair and Molly fell asleep on the sofa. The television was blaring throughout the night but luckily the door was shut. Dad wouldn't like that at all. He was always complaining about the electric bill.

The nightmare

Molly woke up from a terrible dream covered in sweat. She dreamed a turkey was chasing her down a snow covered street. She was running as fast as she could but she couldn't lose the turkey. She'd go down one street and he'd be right on her tail. She'd turn onto another street and he was catching up to her. She yelled for Robert but from some reason he couldn't hear her. She ran until she couldn't breathe. The turkey nipped her tail and she woke up with a start. She was breathing hard and shaking from fright. She looked over at Robert and he was still asleep. What kind of dream was that? A turkey gone mad just before Thanksgiving. If things kept going like this she was going to have to get counseling.

Mark, thank you so much for the wonderful comment. I was thinking it would be a good thing for Freddy to watch something besides the news. If I watched the news every minute of every day it would make me crazy. Smiles to you today and always!

Carol, thanks for the great comment. I had a feeling you would like the last part with the turkey chasing Molly. That made me laugh but I felt sorry for her too because it's awful to wake up from a bad dream. Can you just imagine the turkey chasing Molly! LOL

Never mess with a turkey is the message from the dream!

I know how Freddy feels when he is off the news - like me not logging on to Wikinut for a day!

But there will be no let-up in the net closing in as Molly will not let her guard down - Thanksgiving notwithstanding! siva

Siva, thank you so very much for your wonderful comment. Can you seriously imagine having a dream about a turkey chasing you? Poor little Molly is just a little Border Collie and I think she was shaking with fear. I loved that part because I could just see the turkey chasing her down the street. Our poor Mollie will be afraid of turkeys from this day forward. I think the team will win in the end but first they have to celebrate Thanksgiving. Smiles to you today and everyday!

Great share! I loved the ending where poor Molly woke up (were she human, in a cold sweat!) from her bad dream--being chased by a turkey! Great Thanksgiving Day post. I loved the imagery.
