Molly's got the gang on board to go undercover at the abandoned building. It's a dangerous mission but everybody is prepared to do whatever needs to be done.

The midnight hour

The gang waited till midnight to start their walk to the abandoned building. They were all gathered on Molly's porch. Robert brought tools to enter the building, he was an ace at getting into closed doors, he'd never seen a door that he couldn't open. That was one of the reasons Molly was glad she had Robert on the team. He had a skill like no other and would be an asset to the mission. Sally on the other hand wasn't the bravest soul in the world, so Molly was going to make her the lookout. It was the best place for her. They had to use their strong points to accomplish their goal. They all wanted to live to go home. Before they started out Molly thanked everybody for coming and explained how important they were to the operation. By the time they started walking down the street, they all felt like they could make a real difference and put an end to the burglaries.

The Alley

They started down the street with Molly leading the way. They had to cross a few intersections before they came to the business side of town. Some of the businesses were run down but the building they were interested in was definitely abandoned. Sally didn't like this side of town, it was dark and deserted so she decided she'd be safest next to Robert, he was the male in the group and would protect her if things got out of hand. Milly wasn't feeling very brave right about now. What if someone jumped out from the alley and tried to kill them. She'd be a goner for sure because she was the smallest one in the group. Milly wasn't quite sure why she agreed to come on this stakeout. It was probably because she was afraid Molly would get hurt. Molly took way too many chances in life. Milly knew when they arrived at the building in question because Molly stopped and held up her paw for silence. That was weird because nobody was talking to start with, but maybe that's just what a leader did to get attention.

Finding a way inside

Molly, Robert, Sally and Milly stood in the alley looking at the building. The windows were all boarded up and the doors were locked up tight. Robert suggested they try to get in by going through one of the windows. Sally and Milly were standing in the background. They had no clue what to do, and they were both thinking they would be better off at home. Robert found a long pipe in the alley way next to a dumpster. He decided to try to pry the boards off one by one, slowly but surely the boards came loose. They were in luck because now they could gain access through the broken window. Sally was petrified to go in the dark building, she was trembling from the horror of it all. Molly set her plan in motion. Robert would go in first, followed by Molly, and Milly would go in last. She explained to Sally that she was going to be the lookout. Sally was thankful she didn't have to go in the building, but standing alone in a dark alley way didn't make her feel much better. Robert gave her a whistle and told her not to lose it. Sally was supposed to signal them if something went wrong.

Inside the dark building

Robert, Molly and Milly left Sally standing guard in the alley. The building smelled terrible, it had a dark musty smell and there was no light inside. It was a good thing they all had flashlights with them. Milly was wearing a light on her head. It was easier to maneuver around without having to worry about carrying a flashlight. She'd learned a few things on these stake outs and having a light was very important. They found a long hallway that went into the lower level of the building. Robert went first with Molly right behind him. Milly stayed back a little way because she had no idea what they were going to find.

Sherri's comment reminds me about paranormal activities too that the foursome may not be prepared for! What better place for them than the haunting abandoned building and with our four-legged fellow travelers moving around.

Robert has to live it up as the sole male. I am reminded of an action hero recalling that when people watch his shoots he cannot develop cold feet and has no choice but to take the plunge!

I won't be surprised if they find Dad inside upstaging them! Molly and Robert are the heroes while much depends on Sally while Milly may have to save the day in the end!

You are made of sterner stuff Nancy as searching for these pictures itself could be quite scary for the faint of heart! siva

Siva, thank you so much for the awesome comment. I absolutely love your comments and look forward to reading each one of them. It took me hours to decide what pictures to put with this chapter. As I looked at one picture after the other I thought of Sherri and her paranormal writings. When I added Robert and Sally to the gang I didn't think much about Robert being the only male but when I started writing about dark scary buildings I happened to think that Robert was the only male. I'm not sure why Molly didn't clue Dad in to what they were going to do. That is a mystery to even me.

A well deserved star page dear Nancy ..
I'm glad Sally has a whistle ...I hope she uses it when necessary , and doesn't freeze on the spot with fear .
I have a sneaky feeling all will turn out for the good in the end .
God bless you today and always

Stella, thank you so much for the wonderful comment. When I was writing this chapter and it came to the part about the whistle I couldn't help but think that Sally will panic and maybe drop the whistle. I hope not. I never know what's going to happen next. It comes to me as I write. I love the different personalities. It reminds me so much of how the world is and what makes it go round. Blessings to you today and always!

Shamarie, thank you so much for the wonderful comment. It's harder for me to write suspense because I like to see everything through rose colored glasses so I have to step outside my box to write chapters like this.

Thanks Carol for the comment. I think the hallway is creepy too. I spend so much time trying to find just the right pictures for the chapters I write. I'm so glad my new story takes place in the fall. It's my favorite time of year and there are some beautiful pictures to be shared.
