Molly, Milly, Robert and Sally are on a mission. They are looking for the neighborhood raccoon. He lives in the old maple tree near the corner. They believe he knows more than what he's willing to tell. He wasn't in his tree but they found him in another maple tree. He's refusing to come down.

The raccoon won't budge

Milly was standing directly under the maple tree. She yelled up at the raccoon but he just kept climbing higher. Milly was starting to get aggravated. It would be so much simpler if he would just come down out of the tree and tell them what they wanted to know. Milly finally gave up and walked away. It was so dark and this plan was not working. It looked like a storm was coming in before long.

The dark clouds

Molly looked up at the sky and didn't like what she saw. Rain was coming and it would be a long walk home. She was very perturbed at the raccoon. Why wasn't he cooperating?
All they wanted to do was ask him a few questions. Robert yelled up in the tree and said they were from the neighborhood block watch. That didn't work and the raccoon just climbed higher. He definitely knew something and they were going to find out what it was. Sally told him that if he didn't come down, they were going to call the animal warden. That didn't work and big raindrops started to fall. They had to abandon their mission and go home.

The long walk home

Sally was miserable all the way home. She was soaked clear to her skin. When she signed up to help capture the burglars she didn't count on this. Molly and Milly were used to this type of weather but she usually stayed at home where she belonged. Sally was walking behind Robert and every time he went through a puddle he splashed her. He was becoming very annoying. She was half tempted to zap him with the stun gun. He was her friend though, so she didn't want to hurt him, not to even mention if she zapped him she'd probably get electrocuted. She really needed to get Dad's stun gun back in the drawer before he knew it was missing. She didn't want to deal with the repercussions if he found out what she'd done. It was obvious Sally couldn't live on the wild side like Molly and Milly. Sally was starting to think they were a little psychotic themselves. All the stories they told couldn't possibly be true.

Back at home

By the time Molly walked through the door at home she was tired, wet and very cranky. Sally had complained the whole way home. She had no idea what Sally was like until tonight. At one point she had actually threatened Robert with the stun gun. They would have all been in trouble at that point. They would have made the news, Molly could see the headlines now. From now on Molly was going to give Sally phone assignments. She simply was not cut out to be out in the field looking for bad guys. Sally did not have the temperament for it. Welsh corgis were a force to be reckoned with if they were not happy. Molly was going to bed and Milly was going to continue her watch on the window sill.

Milly is now the veteran - no issues after a tough and rough day out on the job; it is straight back to business for her - she is tough as nails now! She has almost forgotten grandma too!

Looks like Sally and the raccoon guy have feet of clay! Yes, when the good withdraw the bad are out in force. I do hope Dad is not with news of another break-in again!

Thanks Nancy for highlighting we all have, including other species, similar feelings - siva

Even I like phone assignments. I like to hear them ring but I hate to answer them. I guess Sally is alright then.

Snerfu, thank you so much for continuing to follow Molly and Milly. I don't think Sally has the stamina that Molly and Milly have. Although I will say she does have some good qualities. I do think between Molly, Milly, Robert and Sally I'm personally the most like Milly.

Carol, thank you for continuing to follow Molly and Milly. I think you will really like the next chapter. It will be different from anything that's ever happened to Molly and Milly before. I hope that everyone likes it. A German Shepherd would get the job done. They are wonderful dogs. I've had several and one was a full breed shepherd.

It is sad when friends fall out with each other , but it is good to know each ones strong or weak points and appoint them to tasks that suit each temperament Nancy .
Well done for recognizing this in our pals ... that way all will do their part better when times get tough .
Have a truly blessed day my friend
Love Stella ><
