This is a poem about a lone pine tree that is about to be chopped down because a fence is going to be built.

The Lone Pine

Standing there
so Proud and erect
not bending in the wind
that is blowing, but
swaying just a bit
Hoping to keep standing
as if saying a prayer.

The lone pine knowing
the end is near for a
chainsaw is heard.
The breeze blows.

Sound of chainsaw bites into
the lone pine
splinter and crack
the lone pine falls

The lone pine is falling
the lone pine is down
the breeze stops.

The lone pine is gone
nothing but empty space,
the birds have even stopped
singing as in saying good bye
to the pine that gave them
shelter for so long.

it is sad to see no tree for trees
are everyone's friend.
They give us air to breathe and
shelter when it rains.
They keep us cool even when the
breeze is warm.

The lone pine is a memory now
for it will be remembered to all
that has seen it standing proud
for so long.
