A commentary on the suspension Of Brian Williams and how it goes much deeper.

Brian Williams suspended

Brian Williams the NBC Nightly News chief anchor and managing editor was suspended by NBC News for six months without pay. Williams was suspended for, "… his continued misrepresentation of events surrounding his coverage of the Iraq war," NBC said Tuesday night.
Williams claimed that in 2003 a helicopter he was riding in was shot down by RPG fire and that he had to spend two days in the Iraqi desert in a blinding sandstorm before he was rescued. Military veterans who were on that chopper have come forward claiming that Williams entire story was false.

Other fabrications

It has also been revealed that his story of being attacked by gangs in the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New Orleans during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was made up. He claimed that a New Orleans police officer saved him from the gangs. The hotel manager has stated that there were never any gains in his hotel.
Williams has also claimed to have witnessed a suicide in the Superdome. He said that he and others saw a man jump to his death from the second tier after he had been given refuge there after the hurricane. No such report exists.
Other fabrications have also come to light.
His narrative of the events in Iraq even got him praise from David Letterman on Late-Night for his bravery and dedication.

"Out of sight, out of mind."

Williams' misstatements go deeper than just fooling a late-night talk show host and the American people. His Iraq story is a slap in the face to all the families who lost a son or daughter in that conflict. He has also lost the trustworthiness of the American public towards him. At last count 19 million people would tune in to watch his nightly broadcast on NBC News. His show has garnered NBC millions of dollars in revenue every year that he has broadcast them. it is surprising that he was only suspended without pay for six months and not fired!
Mr. Williams had stopped being a reporter and was acting like a celebrity. We expect the truth from reporters. It is par for the course for a celebrity to lie.
In recent polls it was revealed that only 44% of the American people trust the media. This was before the Williams revelations. There is good reason for this. We expect the media to give us the facts in their reporting. In recent years it has become obvious that what we're getting from the media outlets and reporters is their political agenda. They are not so much guilty of lying to us but, are guilty of not even reporting on some important news events. According to their agenda, "Out of sight out of mind."

The other guilty ones

They've been covering for the Obama administration ever since he took office. They almost totally ignored issues like Benghazi, the IRS scandal, the NSA, etc. Almost all of them are guilty of this. Some are more guilty than others. Take your pick. NBC, CBS, ABC, CNN, MSNBC and the list goes on.
The only media outlet that doesn't fall into this maelstrom of deceivers is Fox News.
Brian Williams is through as an anchorman. Since he still technically works for NBC maybe they could give him a show highlighting celebrities, since he seems to know how to act like one.

Fox News has been checked out by "Truth In Reporting" and has been found to tell the truth only fifteen percent of the time, far more often than any other network. Thus you have it ass backwards, Chip. They are being sued by the city of Paris for reporting that huge sections of the city are "no go zones" where non-Muslims cannot enter. To say that Fox News is the only network that is not a deceiver is a huge deception you are perpetrating upon your readership.

The media is an arm of government, delivering the propaganda the administration wants the public to hear. It is mass deception of enormous magnitude. All one needs to do is look at the lies the president himself delivers, e;g;, you didn't build that; you can keep your insurance and your doctor; global warming will bring catastrophe. The lies go on and are substituted for facts. The gullible public, like your commenter above, believe it while spreading the deception around some more.
