Its been a while writing a Poem, and this time I want to do something different. Normally, I write the meaning of my poems or what their messages are all about in the summary section of each of them. This time, I would love my readers to decode what this poem is about. Do well to read and leave comments on your much important opinions. Dedicated to my dearest friend, Linda Benjamin!

Respected Among His Colleagues

As exemplary as a High Priest
and consecrated as a Temple's Inner Chamber.
Respected amongst his colleagues,
reverenced by His subordinates,
distinguished, honorable and set apart.

A Golden Opportunity

Then came the moment of Truth
like the refining fire which may burn or may purify.
A Golden Opportunity never to be seen again,
but a situation to break or to make him.

This is Crude Diamond Ore from a glance
already anticipating to do it at once
creating an allabi with occurrence in France
and covering all traces in utmost Brilliance

He'd like to Dance

Not minding his activated self-repugnance
verily verily, it will give birth to wealth and public acceptance.
If Life gave him more options, he'd freelance.
But with this one opportunity, he'd like to dance.
Having no qualms; even if he disappoints his fans.

He isn't to be blamed if Life is not a balance
and success among all has no concomittance.
This is the start to his enjoyment galore
but can be forever hunted by the Law.

Having in Mind something to prove

The heaped pressure pressing more and more,
but what the Hell! It's just one flaw.
With a blessing so raw,
attached with bountiful Harvest he never saw.

Thinking of his glory and celebration
and already holding his blessing
like a woman in lactation
yet a part of him suppresses
his whole in castigation
making him feel useless
like a man facing castration
forcefully taking his freedom
and peace in extortion

Just about to make the decisive move,
he resisted the push and forgot about the groove
having in mind, something to prove
he signed the blank cheque without adding another "0"

I think this is a scenario temptation faced by a very good and respected person in office.
And from your last sentence, this temptation is about fraud, signing a blank cheque, and instead of lets say signing a $100,000 cheque, the temptation is adding another 0 to make it $1,000,000. I think this is what it is about.

wow. Adding a 0 makes a million, ten million. Nice concept and if not for your explanation I would not have understood the last paragraph.

Okay, let me unveil the meaning...

This poem as Patience has hinted is about a guy who is principled, honest and well respected as seen in the first paragraph, but he is surrounded by fraudulent colleagues and subordinates.

The moment of Truth here is a time of "Temptation"... The paragraphs under the sub-titles "The Golden Opportunity" and "He'd like to dance" all expantiate more on the tempting and enticing benefits he will get when he conform or compromise his standards to yield to the temptation.

Finally, The paragraphs under the subtitle "Having in mind something to prove" talks about the type of temptation and if finally he overcomes it or not. Unlike my classmates which I first gave to read, they were all thinking it is a temptation of sexual intercourse, since the poem talks about a guy... But it isn't, it is about signing a blank cheque. Adding one more "0" to make the figure larger.... Adding another "0" to $1,000,000 (A million) makes it $10,000,000 (Ten Million)..
But since he has something to prove he went ahead to side the cheque without the fraudulent act.

So, if finally you get this meaning, I suggest you go back and read the poem one more time and see if it is clear or not..

Thanks for your trys, you guys all did well.
