The Moon Rises Full

I am an only child with 12 brothers and sisters, the closest to me is 13 years my elder. My oldest sibling is 90 and since August of last year I have 2 brothers, 2 sisters and a BIL. What fallows is a story of faith, for without faith, I would be lost.

The Moon Rises Full

The Moon Rises Full

She says
“My life was like the wind,
It stained me skin for skin
For I sleep in the dust
Of a thousand stars,
My bed is darkness
And my trust
Is like a spider’s web
For I have come to know night,
Measured its gloomy room,

Its shadows are my loneliness
And the light of its stars
Are my companions
And the song the moon sings to me
When the morning comes
Is my only comfort.
And yet there is hope,

There is Hope

There is hope
In the splintered tree outside my window,
That it will sprout again in spring.
Hope in the green things of the field
That we may dine in our time.
And there is light in the open eye,
Light on the moon and stars,
A kiss of golden sunshine.
And still we hide our sorrows
As we keep close our secrets
Until at long last
The awful night has past,
The rocks and stones removed
From the field,
And the water in our eyes
Washes away the sleeping dust.

For I Have Lived

For I have lived through old age.
My hair turned speckled gray
And my heart comes to carry me away,
For now Mr. Moon is here,
And night, his companion
Shines in her blackness
And I know the morning rises.
It rises above the rocks and stones,
It rises above the mountain’s green wetness.
It rises above the desolate places
We call home,
It rises above the pale whiteness
Of our bones.

I Come Alive in My Pain

I come alive in my pain,
But I hear not the oppressor’s voice
Who pours ice over rivers and lakes,
The walking places,
The stepping stones
As my feeble knees have been strengthened
And my bent body straightened,
The rocks and stones removed
From the green, green fields of home.

Life in the Wind

Oh remember me, my Lord
For my life is in the wind
And the wind blows so swiftly now.
Pardon my transgressions oh Lord,
Take away my inequities
Until I can know no sin, no indulgence,
That I may be of no offence
In Thy eyes, oh Lord.
Wrap me in Your love, my Lord
For I have known the night
As my loneliness,

The light of stars as my comfort
And the songs of moon
As my only companion.
Take me home where I may sing again
The songs of my mother,
Hold her with my arms of new
Knowing my trials are over
And I am home.

The Sharpened Eye

But what of the lonely ones,
Gathered in softened pews
With their hair of straw?
Will their hearts be carried away?
Will the wind be like dust in their eyes?
Their dreams strung, like the webs of spiders,
That they should walk as strangers in the land
To rub against each other’s shoulder
And never know who they are?
For they are miserable comforters
When the tears come. Oh Lord.
Feeling like every eye is sharpened upon them
As they cross that lonely bridge,
Their faces grown foul in their weeping,
Can they not dry their wetness
With thoughts of heaven, oh Lord?

The Earth and Stars

Must they always hide from understanding
Thinking the night might change into day
When their rest together is the dust.
For they rip themselves
And point the blame on the earth and stars
And still the rocks and stones
Remain frozen in their fields.
Let not their strength fail them now, oh Lord,
In their hour of lonely hope.
Let them reach into the darkened clouds
And pluck for themselves some sunshine.
Let not their sorrows be, but stubble in the wind
As even now, oh Lord, their hearts are softened
As You remove the rocks and stones
From their path, the splintered darkness from their eyes
With Your light, that they may walk without fear
Through the shadows of their life
Knowing the love of heaven shines upon them
Forever and ever
Amen and Amen.

Thanks Mark, and thank you for all you do for us. I don't know if I am sad, or just drained, but I like to think that I know where they are, at least most of them, but heck, I'm going to need some company too.

Thanks WOGIAM, it seems there are so many who are lost and just too darn smart to understand their position.
