The Mystery of Time

Time, it certainly is a mystery. It's always there, but it can leave you stranded, wondering, where, where did it go? A precious commodity indeed. Yes, very precious is this thing we call time. These two short poems touch on this subject.

Tick Tock

The clock keeps ticking,
And the sand keeps sifting,
My, how time passes by…

The old get older,
And the young get younger,
My, how things stay the same…

Some say they wouldn’t,
Others say they couldn’t,
Maybe, that needs to change.

Where did it go?

The chair rocks back
And forward again,
I look and I wonder
I can’t remember when,

Children are playing
With so much joy,
Young men and women
All looking so coy,

Onward I travel and see
Many places and things
My mind drifts backwards
Cheer and sadness it brings,

Shadows dance from the light of the lamp
The evening grows long
But here I sat enticed and entranced,

Escaping the cold night's air
All wrapped and snug in my stole,
Looking at the past from the present
Taking my time searching my soul,

As I thumb through my photo album
Under the light's soft gentle glow
All of these memories make me wonder,
Where did it go?
Where did it go…?
