The Onset

A failed attempt on a lonely day in early winter.

The Onset

I'm harmonizing wet
arsenals of matches,
but that's what you get
smoking on the back ledge.

I'm analyzing your undertones
rubbing under those glasses
I'll stay in my own zone -
bored without attachment.

The steel of the air
is a wintry metal,
smooth through hair
then gone, that's all.

I'm not sure if this is how other people experience the world, but I'm constantly aware of other layers to social situations and peoples words. I'm aware of my own vanity and pride, my own shyness or insensitivity, my own brash and uncalled for words. I can tell when someone is hiding something, or if they are stretching the truth. It's very lonely.

Anxiety, Loneliness, Rejection
