The formal difference between the holy Qur’an and ‘The Ahadith’ (Sayings of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) is the fact that the Holy Qur’an is the teachings reveled through angelic medium as the Divine Revelation (Wahee) while ‘The Ahadith’ is the source of teachings that emerged into the soul of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) without the Angelic medium of revelation through the revered Jibrail (Mercy of Allah be on him).

The Practice and the Sayings of the Prophet (PBUH): The life of the Ultimate Prophet

Almighty Allah has perfected the true religion of Islam by sending Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) as the ultimate Prophet of the universe for the entire humanity till doom's day and, subsequently, God Almighty Himself undertook the responsibly to protect the religion of Islam. So, even logically and reasonably also, whichever guidance is the ultimate one it's a must to be protected.

This pure religion of Islam comprises two major streams of imparting to the mankind, (1) The Final Sacred Book, The Holy Qur’an and (2) The Life Code and exhortations of the Final Messenger, Prophet Mohammad (Peace be Upon Him). The Holy Qur’an is the pure celestial revelation sans any scope of corruption therein at all. ‘Ahadith’ (Sayings of the Prophet Mohammad, Peace be upon him) and ‘Sunnah’ (Practice of the Prophet Mohammad, Peace be upon him) refers to the teachings, life code and exhortations of the ultimate Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).

Even till date, the life style of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him), the circumstances of his life, sayings and teachings as well as acts and behaviour of him are as much secured and intact as if he left us just yesterday. Further, today even after the elapse of 1400 years, the autobiography of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) is as much crystal clear in the mirror of history as if we have been witnessing him before us! One can attain the guidance for his each branch of dealing in the life from the life of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).

Today, no any great personality's teachings and life is as much reliably insulated as is that of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) in the world. Even to the extent that we cannot find the authentic and concrete life style of any historical personality who had died just a couple of centuries ago.

Therefore, it does soundly implies that nothing but the God's mechanism and super-high logic is operative after protecting and preserving the life style of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him). It is because that none but the same God Almighty Himself terminated the chain of Apostles and concurrently undertook the responsibility to protect the true religion of Islam in the world till the last day.

‘The Ahadith’ has been acknowledged in the holy Qur’an as “And the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) says nothing out of own his wishes. (Chapter: ‘Najam’, 3)

Some of the erstwhile scholars regarded the Holy Qur’an to have been created by the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) which is top to bottom wrong. Holy Qur’an is the purest Godly revelation itself.

However, there has been an unbreakable and indissoluble relation between the Holy Qur’an and the Ahadith of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him). Hence, if one believes in the holy Qur’an but alongside denies the Ahadith and Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him), he/she can never attain true and real guidance of the religion because the life fashion of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) is the practical interpretation of the holy Qur’an itself. So, it is a must to consider the life style of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) itself to gain the real interpretation of any verse of the holy Qur’an. For instance, the holy Qur’an commands the mankind that, “Perform the prayer (Salat) at its due time)”.

Now, the holy Qur’an is silent about the methods of performing the Salat, but one can and does access to the most authentic details as to how Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) used to offer Salat in his life. So, considering the same, uniform and relevant link between the holy Qur’an and the Ahadith, if one wishes to be obedient to the God Almighty, one must comply with both the versions of the holy Qur’an as well as the Ahadih without fail. Hence, if one negates any one of the above versions, he/she will definitely get derailed from the right path instead of getting true path.

The autobiography as well as the teachings of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) has been secured and insulated by God Almighty through following 3 authentic mediums in the world.
(1) The Muslims at large follow the teachings and life of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) persistently.
(2) There have been wide spread written records and books on his life and teachings.
(3) Through continuous teaching and learning process as well as memorization of it by the people.

The ancestral Muslims did strive so much to maintain the precision, accuracy and perfection in the compilation of his autobiography and his teachings that it is beyond any human being to maintain afterwards. In the past, the companions of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) used to observe his each and every behavior as well as used to listen to his each and every version very very much raptly. The Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) used to articulate his words so much patiently and clearly that each word could be noted down verbatim. Hence, all those present at that time used to note down his each and every wording as well as way of dealing very impeccably. Subsequently, those present used to intimate the absentees as well about what Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) had narrated to them in their absence, so that they all could behave according to his sayings itself.

So, many a companions of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) learnt by heart many a sayings of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and even noted down too. Thus, the entire autobiography of Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) has been available to us till date in its very original and uncorrupted form. The 'Ahadith' (Sayings) were perfectly complied in the Hijri, 3rd century. Meanwhile the said time, the experts of Ahadith did drain out the unprecedented caliber and energy of them to collect and compile the Ahadith verbatim.

The books written by Imam Malik, Imam Bukhari, Imam Muslim, Imam Abu Daood, Imam Tirmizi, Imam Nasai and Imam Ibne Majah (Mercy of Allah be on all of them) in the faculty of Ahadith are considered to be the most authentic and reliable. Revered Hajrat Imam Bukhari (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 194-Hijri 256) compiled super-high authentic version of 7275 Ahadith entitled “Saheeh Bukhari Sharif”. Revered Hajrat Imam Muslim (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 204-Hijri 261) complied another very authentic set of 7422 Ahadith entitled “Saheeh Muslim Sharif”. Revered Hajrat Imam Tirmizi (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 209-279) compiled one more quite authentic set of Ahadith entitled "Tirmizi Sharif". Revered Hajrat Imam Daood (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 202-275) complied highly valuable set of 4800 Ahadith entitled “Sunane-Abu-Daood”.

Revered Hajrat Ibne Maja (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 209 -273) toiled and moiled a lot and compiled a version entitled “Sunane Ibne Mazah”. Revered Hajrat Imam Nasai (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 215-303) compiled a version of the 'Ahadith' entitled "Nasai Sharif". Revered Hajrat Imam Malik (Mercy of Allah be on him) (Hijri 93-179) compiled the authentic compilation of the ‘Ahadith’ known as “Mauatta Imam Malik”. There apart, many other scholars of the past did compile many a valuable collection of the ‘Ahadith’ on the life and sayings of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him).

The sacred Qur’an does reflect the significance of the unique life of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) at numerous places, as it is declared in “Surae-Nisa” that “Comply with whatever is commanded to you by the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) and abstain from whatever is prohibited by him.” (Peace be upon him). Thus, to stringently observe the Ahadith as well as the sacred Qur’an simultaneously and uniformly is the real obedience to the God Almighty.

To conclude, one cannot comprehend the real and entire form and constitution of the Islam religion as a whole in the absence of either the sacred Qur’an or ‘the Ahadith’ at all. The practical implementation of the holy Qur’an is found in the life of the Prophet Mohammad (Peace be upon him) himself.
