There is no short cut to Nibbana and there is no Royal Road leading us to that place. There are no cheap passports to buy for that purpose. Each of us who wish to go there must work hard and time is not an issue.

The Road to Nirvana

Some progress fast
Others progress slowly
Let the fast ones not look down
On those who walk slowly
Does it matter
If you take a trillion kalpas
To attain Nirvana?

If you’re sure of the journey
The time is not a problem
Did the Buddha ever say
You must arrive within a certain time?
Or the gate will be closed?
Ksitigarbha said he would wait
Until the hell is totally empty
Before he attains Nirvana.
I wouldn’t dare to try
Such an ambitious vow.

Just in case you believe
I’m talking nonsense
The more we advance in technologies,
The better we’ll be able to understand
the teachings of the Buddha.

End
