The Spammer

I'm sure you are as bothered by spammers on wikinut as I am. Let's find a way to get rid of them.

The Spammer

This infuriating spammer
I call him a slammer
Who defiles this web site
All day and all night.

Filling our pages with garbage
With such excess verbiage
I want him away
Let me enjoy the day
Free from his pitch
Don't give him a stitch
Not even a dime
For intruding on your time.

He's nothing but a predator
I wish that the editor
Could find a garbage bin
To dump him in.

And who would buy
From this pitiful guy?
What he's selling
There's no telling
But I know it's not for me
Gracious, let me be
Go back where you came from
And give us our freedom.

Stop taking your bite
Out of this sight
It would be such a delight
If you disappeared in the night
Then I would thank you.

Hmm interesting you havent been spammed yet, another article I moderated not 10 minutes ago was spammed instantly.

Moderators do have the ability to remove spam posts when they see them, eventually wikinut wants to give this to the authors too but need to have it so you can only remove comments on your own posts, not like us Mods who can remove comments system wide.

Unfortunately I can only see the spam comments when I view a page that has been spammed, I guess if you have problem pages with lots of spam use the notes to the moderator section telling us to go check such and such article (give a link).
On the other hand.. every spam comment is a view, and since the links they post are not clickable its not too much of a problem other than being annoying.

Thanks for all the good info, Mark. I can't wait until we're able to remove spam from our articles.

Thank you steve for pointing this out. These types of messages are really annoying. I wish Wikinut had a delete feature and also a feature to accept or deny message. Attn: Steve Brown, I'm having a problem with a user as well? the types of comments on my page are totally inappropriate especially considering that this person is a total stranger whom I've never met. Pen name Aiyanna. Thanks for your attention to this matter.

Great read Steve! How is it that when anyone else posts on an article, you can click on their name and see their page, not so with the spammers. I have a great big steaming pile of spam, I would like to leave them.

That's what I'm wondering. Does anyone ever buy from these guys? I guess they must, otherwise they wouldn't do it. Thanks for the comment, saurik.

Steve, if they buy from these fools, then they are fools themselves. What a invasion on our work I say. I have only been hit twice but, I am sure if I was hit as many times as most have been, I would be steamed also. What a annoying twit. The poem is so fitting. Thank you for sharing.:)

You've only been hit twice? I've been hit countless times - seems with every page I publish. These guys are disgusting.

Friends, it seems they do no harm other than being nuisance, as Mark said. They add to viewership, at any rate. Dunno, Steve, if I'm right but we're also spammers in our own way to attract viewers. It's life. But your and our concern is right and legitimate, of course. Thanks for the share. :)

I have to admit you have a point there, Buzz. I guess you could say we spam for readers, but at least we're not doing it to sell something.

Some of my articles are already spammed - I know they add views too though they are distracting.

I even suggested them to send those offers to my email and invited them to become one of wikinutters.

It is really hard to stop spammers. I wish too we could have that control button to remove spams. I like your poem dude.

Great poem Steve! I am with you a 100% with you on this...I also have been spammed many times, I even wrote a poem based on it too, called 'Spammed!' I think we are all tired of it, even though we ignore it. I think it might have been on a page of Ram Bansal, and she got a ridiculous amount of spamming, ream after ream of it. I know it adds to our nut points, but to be honest, I would happily sacrifice those, for decent comments from people who post on my work, rather than the parasites that sit on the back of it... That delete button can't come soon enough!! Right, I am just climbing down off my soapbox now...lol..Ah, I feel better for that rant already...hahaha.. Great share my friend..

Just adds wiki points and the longer the comments the more adds so I think we make more pennies. Doesn't bother me much though.

Just like computer hackers, they are probably here to stay Steve. Still, on the bright side, their spam as Mark so rightly points out, count as clicks for your account. Thank you for your share.
