The Stormy Sea Unleashed..

Nothing is quite as dramatic as a storm at sea to make us feel the full power of nature at her wildest. We become insignificant as her waves pound the rocks and shores.. Nature always reminds us of our place in the great scheme of things..Perhaps a lesson we would be wise not to forget..

A Stormy Night At Night...

A stormy sea
in a darkened night..
The scream of gulls
as they take to flight,
Rising up so high,
in a fearsome wave..
Power pulses
to a watery grave..
Tearing, crashing,
pounding beast..
Alive it seems
when the storms unleashed..

With Her Deadly Kiss..

Would you be brave
to walk along this beach,
in case waves caught you
within their sea drenched reach?
Snatched from the land,
you could not resist,
as consuming sea
gave it's deadly kiss..
A wild beast portrayed,
but in liquid form,
You should fear indeed,
when caught in the storm.

And Her Untamed Power..

Yet a midnight sky,
still in early hours,
witnesses alone
Nature's untamed power..
As it screams and rages,
vents its fury till..
..it is spent and weakened,
and the air grows still.
The sea becalmed,
as the white foams brush..
..lapping at the beach,
in nocturnal hush.

Songbird we live in the woodlands on the mid-coast of Maine, "only a stone throw away" from the ocean- you captured that raw beauty that is the storm filled sea, with the rare beauty of your poetry:0)!

Wonderful poetry, pictures, and video, Songbird. I recollect how the Asian tsunami in 2004 on Boxing day snatched many from the seashore as they had little time to take shelter. Some were elderly folks chatting with friends when monster waves from Indian Ocean generated by the huge earthquake off Aceh in Indonesia plucked them from inland and they just disappeared without a trace! These happened right from Indonesian coast to Sri Lanka, India right up to Africa where it petered out! Nature can never be trifled with! siva

I recall sitting listening in absolute horror about the tsunami on Boxing day 2004 Sivar, hardly believing my ears that something could strike the way it did. So many many lives lost, snatched away in seconds. We think we can tame the seas, but we are nothing compared to the power they can unleash..

Such beautiful words in your poem Songbird. There is something magical watching the power contained in a heavy storm whether it is on land or sea. Keep up the good work and congratulations on another star page too :-)

Wow! This really captured the feeling of a storm on the ocean. It's one thing I miss about living by the sea.... going down near the shore to watch the crazy waves and listen to the roaring wind. I also enjoyed listening to the video while I read your poem. Nice addition, Bev. Thank you sweet friend! xo
