This is my first writing of this piece and my first act of writing in the new year. It came to me in a dream last night.

The Things We Teach....one poem only

The Things We Teach

Evil is always human
And always waiting at our feet
For a touch, like a dirty rug kicked.
Evil comes knocking on our door
If for nothing more
Than a quick and quivering smile,
Or a sliver of light to do away with

And still we let it in,
Like some kind of winter decoration.

Closed in the Open Doorway

I wonder,
With my frozen eyes welded wide shut
And again closed in the opened doorway,
If this is just
Another view
To see the way clear
For our suffering.
For as we know, for us,
Pain is dear.
And yet, we wait passionately
And even reverently
For miracles to fall
In the opening of our calling
Our martyrdom.

Run the Corse of Time

Knowing that they must, at the very least,
Run their course of time and prayer
As we think of ourselves as suffering
In this evil world, like the old masters.
While we sit comfortably at home
Eating black caviar and canned truffles
That came all the way
From the foot-hills of the French Alps.
Sniffed out
By a brood of trained pigs

That gets more affection than our kids

Aboriginal Objects

Who spend life times in schools
Learning prepositions
And word order.
After studying specimens
Of aboriginal objects
That once helped
In the conquering of the higher regions
Of France and Italy.

Standing in the Open Doorway

And then they come home
After months away
And call us by our first name,
As we smile at them
As best as we can;
Standing in the open doorway,
Hoping they go away…Our lips dark
And quivering.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

Utah Jay, this is a very thought provoking piece of work. I always enjoy anything that makes me stop and think if just for a little while. You have a talent that few have. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Utah Jay, the holidays kept me very busy but hopefully I will have more time for my friends now. I posted some pictures of my family on facebook if you would like to see them. I got a new computer because my old one was just barely working. Now I have to get used to the new one. Happy New Year!

Great first post for the new year 2015, Utah Jay. We learn more from direct experience some of which leave a lasting lifelong impression. Life keeps us on tenterhooks all the time - siva

whatistheworld, it has been my curse, saying what is on my mind without any sugar to soften the blow. I don't mean to be this way, but I have to say it the way it is. Thank you for understanding.

Thanks Siva, sometimes I wish I hadn't had so much directness. Someone tells me what they believe and I am driven to tell them what I believe. I have seen a lot of folks on sites like this who agree with all things. Someone says there is no God and they agree and then someone else says 'I am a child of God" and they say...Me too in the hopes of getting another read on their article, but I would rather be known for who I am, than get an underserved read...Your a good and wise man Siva.
