The Tragedy of Bukisa

How a once promising Publishing Site collapsed in upon itself and will soon die

Bukisa

Back in 2008 Bukisa was a rival of Triond.

It paid more got more hits, and many Trionders fluctuated between the two sites.

Triond decided to double up its advertising. It would pay its writers as it usually did, but if they opted for the doubling they'd also be paid by Adsense.

Sure the pages of Triond would be swamped by Ads so that only 1/3rd would be the article, but money is money.

Hence, for the past few years one has been paid twice on Triond. Not much, but twice.

Bukisa, after a confused time of late and non payments opted for direct Adsense/Chitka only.

As those familiar with this protocol know, one has no idea how much money they made, (if any) on Bukisa, nor how many hits they received. One must go to Adsense to ascertain this information.

And Adsense, is and will always be, problematic.

At this point, writers began to use Bukisa as a secondary site.

As online writers know, one publishes the 'real' article on a primary site and only uses a secondary one for either a poor copy; or stuff they don't care about.

Talk About The Site

The original appearance of Bukisa was annoying. The lay out of the page wasn't attractive. Articles began smack against the left side of the screen and getting images embedded was so annoying and painful few bothered.

Selecting the topic and subtopic seemed to have been designed by a High Schooler. As bad is this was it got worse when they decided to have a special 'How-To' template.

By late 2010 most writers stopped submitting to Bukisa as it was too much trouble for nothing much.

Recently

Bukisa has decided, (without warning) to change it's 'image'. Of course, considering the pathetic quality of their web designer, one knew there would be extreme glitches.

One hadn't expected how extreme.

Old writers can log on but can't publish as the publishing button doesn't work Press it and you'll get an error page.

Newbies can't join the site as the welcoming email does not contain the activation code.

Here is a publishing site on which one can't publish, nor edit their already published work, or can Newbies join!

It has become a must see site, for words can not describe the fullness of the disaster Bukisa has become.

And, as always, it is a waste of time to contact the site as no one read or answers messages.

Like a dying cockroach, Bukisa keeps twitching.

Yup, my wife tried to write something and couldn't. You think they would have noticed something is wrong.
She found the site awkward and hard to use anyhow though and recently joined us here at Wikinut.

I have seen your wife being very active on Triond as well. The sad part of Bukisa is that it had a really good start...but like Asafa, pulled up.

What happened to Bukisa is the standard for all sites in which the Owners couldn't care less.

And getting payments from Adsense, getting a sensible report from Adsense is not intuitive

Well, what happened to Bukisa, will happen to Wikinut eventually if requests and problems continue to be ignored. I have tried for three days to get a response and absolutely no results. I can only think that there are not enough moderators to handle the number of writers who need responses and assistance.

Kaylar,
Thanks so much for posting this on Bukisa. I've been on there for almost a year now, and was not understanding
what happened. When I went to post it said "offline for a
moment' or some such stupid error message. It really has deteriorated in a year's time. Sad.

It has really deteriorated. There was a time it was 1c for every 3.? views. Hence 35 views was 10c, 350 was a $1.00. Considering that one easily gets 350 views on this site a day, if this was Bukisa we'd make $30 a month without a sweat.
That is how good Bukisa was.

That 'off line' message has been up for over 2 months.

Did any one think to contact the Better Business Bureau, I am in the process of doing that myself. I know they weren't paying much, but seriously folks, they are still using our material on their site . Go to BBB and file an online complaint. You can get the web owners info. via search.

After Bukisa cut me off getting into the website, some creepy guy, Thomas Neal, put his byline and his photo on three of my well researched articles. I wrote the editor and I receive no response. Check it out. My name is on the bottom of the article the guy's name is bylined.
"Give Your Brain A Workout Through Tried Out Methods Or Experimenting With Binaural Psychoacoustics" Other well researched articles I placed on Bukisa also stolen by this guy.
