I try to keep satire out of my poetry, but this was just too good for me to pass up. Please know it is all in fun and meant to harm no one.

The Un-Raveling

The Un-Raveling

Out in the nearing distance
Comes a phosphorescent glow
On the Bill Maher show
And for one thick moment
A cloud rose
In the confusion.

The Night Slows

Now the night slows
And in fear of being alone
And blamed for it all
They go floating face up
(the producers do)
For this is more than they can bear.

Last Night

Last night Bill Maher
Called the President a Muslim,
But it isn’t so…No! No!
What he said,
What he really said,
Was that the President worships, like one.
Which has got the left
All in a uproar
And falling on bending knees,
Their masks unveiled
Praying to their wind-mill-gods,
By this inhuman guile
Spilled by one of their own
Who seems not so innocent now.

From the Window

From the west window
Anyone can see the men
Gathered around their man
Wanting desperately
To go back to where they came,
But the snakes on the right
Have finally learned their game,
But they don’t know it yet,
And there-in lies
The coming suspense.

Is political satire ever found in poetry? It is a safe place for such things now as it has been in the past? Do you have something more to say? Say it on wikinut and get paid.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.

Even if the president was Muslim who cares, we are to keep church and state separate.

Apparently Bill Maher does, I just thought it funny that he did, being the tolerant leftist that is. Thanks for the comment Mark. And by the way, can you show me any place in our founding documents where the words "separation of church and state appear?" No you cannot because they are not there. These words were taken from a letter Jefferson sent to a church that wanted to be the national religion. What the letter said was that in this new country we keep the government out of the churches. The Supreme Court got it wrong. It is not what the founders wanted, if it was, why then was one of the very first purchases of the new congress Bibles to be used as text books for the new nation's public schools, and why was the capital building used to hold services for several churches in Washington while their buildings were being constructed if the founders wanted a separation of church and state? It's all in the library of Congress if you want to look it up.

Church and state must be separate - but someone forgot to tell the right wingers!

Being a right winger who knows our history and does not believe this. Nowhere in our founding documents are the words, separation of church and state found. These words came from a letter to a Babtist Church explaining to the church how the government would not get involved with the picking of churches. In other words, what Jefferson said was that the state would not get into the churches business. If it were true, that a separation of church and state were what the founders wanted, why then was one of the first purchases of the new congress for Bible to used as text books for new nations public schools, but thank you so much for your comment. This is what makes our nation so great, that we can come together and discuss our beliefs...God Bless You Always...uTAH jAY
