The Walk To School

Two little boys named Bradley and Brian
And one little girl named May
Walked to school together each morning
And back home at the end of the day.

Bradley was a little bit taller than Brian
With brown hair on top of his head
Brian had freckles all over his white cheeks
And the color of his hair was red.

May was taller than both of the boys were
With long hair curly and gold
She wore a pink dress when the weather was warm
And a pink coat when it was cold.

Side by side they walked to school each day
Together as friends, rain or sun
Playing and jumping and smiling the whole way
They'd sing and laugh and have fun.

Then one day on the way to the schoolhouse
They met a little boy named Jack
Who wondered if he could walk to school with them
And at the end of the day he'd walk back.

So Jack joined the group and that seemed okay
Because four was better than three
And Jack and Bradley and Brian and May
Were as happy as happy could be.

Then one afternoon on the way back home
A little girl named Sue
Came up to the four and asked very nicely
If she could walk with them, too.

So Bradley and Brian and May and Jack
And Sue all walked together until
One sunny morning when the five of them
Met a nice little boy named Bill.

There were six of them now, when Bill came along
But soon they would add another
When Maggie asked if she could join
Because Bill was her little brother.

So Maggie and Bill and Sue and Jack
And May and Bradley and Brian
Were seven until the very next day
When they met a little boy named Ryan.

Then they were eight, this group of friends
And that would have been just fine
But two days later Sarah joined them
And now their number was nine.

So Sarah and Ryan and Bradley and Brian
And May and Jack and Sue
And Bill and Maggie walked together to school
Each day, and then walked home, too.
