“Round, like a circle in a spiral, like a wheel within a wheel, never ending nor beginning on an ever spinning reel” so the velvety words rise up as the Songbird sings her hauntingly beautiful melodies...
A Tribute To Our Very Own Songbird Beverley Borrasen.my dear friend who reminds me me of C.S. Lewis's immortal words: "friendship is born at that precise moment when one person says to another, What! You too? I thought I was the only one."

Bev Sings: The Windmills Theme From "The Thomas Crown Affair"

The orchestral prelude starts and is followed by the lilting sounds of Songbird B's velvety voice as she sings the two beautiful opening melodic sentences, borrowed from Motzart’s second movement from his; “Sinfonia Concertante for violin.”, but even so, it’s real claim to fame is from the 1968 film; “The Thomas Crown Affair” in which it was used as a theme starring Steve Mc Queen and his beautiful co-star, Faye Dunaway.

Over the years several artists have interpreted the song and include Dusty Springfield, Vanilla Fudge, Petula Clark, Vicky Leandros, and Nana Mouskouri and recently even Barbara Streisand on her latest album.

Our Very Own Songbird Sings

My favourite version is by a talented and dear friend of mine who is also the star of this article, the person is none other than our very own beloved Beverly Borrasen better known as the accomplished author and poet “Songbird B”, who in a very short space of time, has managed to scamper right into our hearts, here on Wikinut.com where she writes mainly poetry about many diverse topics, 20 of which have recently been accepted by a publishing house and which will shortly be appearing in print in an Anthology of Poetry in the Spring of 2012.

She Just Loves To Make People Smile

Beverley was born and raised in London but are now, together with her husband, and pet Jack Russell named Raffles, living in the South West of the UK in picturesque Wiltshire, of which the world famous poet, Gwen Ellis fondly writes about in her poem: “Wiltshire Moonrakers.”
http://www.yokels.supanet.com/index6.html

Qualities that really set her aside as an individual from the masses, is her passion, love and true commitment to achieving success in all of her endeavors, her striving to attain those qualities are clearly visible throughout, both as a poet and also as a singer.

She has sung a diverse range of musical styles over the years, but came into her own when she started to sing Jazz. She is a huge fan of Ella Fitzgerald and also loves the song styles of Julie London, Peggy Lee and Sarah Vaughan.

Her passion for life and her love of nature is strongly yet subtly depicted in her poetry where she portrays life as she finds it and always manages to see the lighter side of most things, because as she explained recently during my interview with this remarkably talented lady: "I thrive on bringing happiness to others and to see them find the best inside themselves."

Medieval Structures And Beautiful Gardens

Wiltshire county where Bev lives is famous for its medieval structures of which its 8 White Horses are a fine example, they are clearly dotted along the county's hillsides. Also The Kennet and Avon Canal which has celebrated its bicentennial in 2010 is Wiltshire's main waterway with its most spectacular section being that at Caen Hill near Devizas.

Hills Alive With Colour

What a spectacular setting to wake up to in the morning, the rolling hills, a mere stones throw away and the spectacular towering castles dotting the horizon where ghostly battles from a bygone age still rage on, if only in the viewers imagination. In the distance, the mist shrouded, mysterious, Stone Henge, towers over the valleys and surrounding hills where the patches of red poppies greet the rising sun.

Wiltshire's Many Beautiful Public Gardens And Ancient Architecture Inspire Her...

Please visit this site called SOUND-CLOUD where you can sample the title song as well as a selection of some of her other great songs, which she sings with that unmistakable warm velvety voice:
http://www.soundcloud.com/Tranquilnoize/

When asked how she would describe herself to others, she had this to say: “I love humour, good friends, and the occasional glass of white wine.” When asked if she believed herself to be a sincere and kind person, she replied: “I’m strong in my belief in God and firmly believe in life after death and this teaches me, to accept all people for who they are.”

She Feels Passionate About Gardens and Photography

Bev’s love for garden design and amateur photography often takes her to the exquisite ponds and gardens dotted in and around Wiltshire county. This can be clearly seen, when one visits her pages on Wikinut.

Tranquilpen, "You Light Up My Life" is a ballad written by Joe Brooks and originally performed by Kassey Cisyk for the sound track of the movie of the same name. Since then it has been performed a multitude of singers but my favorite is the Debby Boone rendition which topped Billboard's Hot 100 Chart.. Still, your use of the title was appropriate because Bev does a damn good job of Lighting Up Our Lives here on Wikinut as well.

I am so humbled by Bev's comments, Richard, as I had felt that this attempt was a bit mediocre, in that it pales in the presence of her real attributes as a friend. In fact, I would like it very much, I you would please return to this page which I have now updated. I really value your input on my articles as always my friend.

Andre: I also typed a tribute to Songbird but you have so much more detail in yours. Why did I expect to hear a recording of Songbird singing, or am I misreading your page. Where is the video? David is able to place a video in an article, in fact he has recorded two. I appreciate your tribute very much but WHERE IS THE VIDEO OF SONGBIRD SINGING?
Thank you my dear Andre. I enjoyed your chocolate cake.

Hello I have just re checked the link before responding to your query and it is working fine. I chose a Company called Sound Cloud which allows me to showcase more songs all at once and there is no streaming (waiting for 10 seconds then listening for five and so on. It is purely a sound link without pictures flashing around. I found no green line going around only the slowly moving gray jagged line which, after clicking the orange arrow, starts moving as the song plays. This is a digital sound print, a signature of songbird's voice and orchestra, almost like a fingerprint. The sound is also top quality, please try clicking on the above blue link again, you will not regret it I promise you my dear friend X
Ps. Thank you for trying out the chocolate cake recipe, I will tell Daleen my wife.

I hope the cyclone has passed by, Andre. We used to have a cabin built into the White Cliffs of Dover. I was very afraid of storms but was constantly reminded that the force of the wind could not get behind it and blow if off the cliff! (Do you remember Charlie Chaplin in the teetering cabin on a cliff and he swung out into space holding onto the door handle?),

Cyclone has swung 400 kilometers out to sea, hoping it stays there, thank you for asking. I remember, and miss his antics, life certainly was a whole lot less complicated back then. I was an avid reader of the William Brown series, better known as the Just William series, a series of about thirty nine books written by English author Richmal Crompton. The books are based around the mischievous schoolboy William Brown .Published over a period of almost fifty years, between 1921 and 1970
the really notable part was the fact that the protagonist remains at the same eleven years of age, despite each book being set in the era it was written in. The first book was Just William, and often the entire series is named after this book. Each book, with the exception of Just William's Luck, which was a novel, was a collection of short stories.Gosh, with your remark about Charlie Chaplin's antics, and swinging out into space, I was completely lost in time. Forgive my ramblings dear friend and look after yourself, special lady X
