Inspired by the recent production of Coriolanus, the first poem delves into his mother's love and admiration for him.
The second has more of a melancholy feel. Ever feel trapped, sucked into a life you have no control over? This poem deals with just that.

To Coriolanus

My darling boy

How proud I am

Your battle scars

Make you a man

The blood and the fight

The tears and the thunder

Come, stand closer

What have you plundered?

The people detest you

But you are adored

By your mother, wife, child

Your faithful servants -

I implore

You, dear boy,

Forget not about us

As your body grows older

Think on it.

You must.

The Whirlpool of Discontent

A whirlpool of discontent

Down, down, down she plummets down into that whirlpool

It’s all her fault she’s falling, she created that whirlpool herself.

Secretly she knows a special secret

Ssh, don’t tell..

She knows the way out,

But she won’t go that way

Oh dear, oh dear,

She falls

Drops

Past friends and old acquaintances

They’ll be long gone by now

Down down down

It’s getting darker there, isn’t it?

She’s all alone now, arms and legs flailing, trying to reach the surface -

The silent voice speaks.

"You’re too far gone now, love"

All she needs is an arm to pull her up

Someone else’s weight

Not to be trapped by the constant torment of gravity

But to be weightless

Her silent cries echo round the whirlpool

She hears the whisper

"Too late, too late"

Nothing can save her now.
