These are the days of change

As we come to the end of yet another year, I give you a poem of change

A time to look back and reflect, A time to look forward to another challange

As we move through the seasons I notice the changes nature makes to the surrounding countryside, from birth to blossom from hot to cold
It’s always a sad time when we leave one season for another, but then Mother Nature surprises us with her magical change, it’s a progression a transformation, in a way it is a makeover

As Yoko Ono once said
“Spring passes and one remembers one's innocence. Summer passes and one remembers one's exuberance. Autumn passes and one remembers one's reverence. Winter passes and one remembers one's perseverance.”

Here is my poem to you

These are the days of change.

So now we are in December the first frosts have been and things are looking temperamentally seasonal
The sun shines but without its summer warming glow
Now as we approach the year end, nature changes too, with her colours and arrangements
Gone are the lush emerald greens and opulent burnt browns of trees and lawns
Gone are the days of bright warm sunshine and playful effervescent whiles
The echoes of innocent childhood squeals and delights as they play
The voice of leather on willow played out on a village green
The sweet smell of freshly cut grass

These are the days of change

Petals of yellow and red part company with their hosts
Leaving shells of life bearing seeds with a promise of future colour and aroma
Foes and enemies can be conquered but the relentless march of time is unstoppable.
Now we welcome the colours of autumn gold and frosty silvers
Welcoming windows take on convivial characteristics
With their warm friendly glows
Turning the frosty surroundings a magical golden orange hue
Wisps of curling chimney smoke float slowly up evaporating into the cold night air summer is well and truly gone and winter is here
A period to reflect on times gone by
Time to be with yourself
Time to prepare

These are the days of change

Winter has its own charm; outside it’s like a newly made bed
The white sheets of snow with not a wrinkle to be seen
And there sitting on an upturned wheelbarrow a robin sings his heart out
Not for him a flight to warmer climes
He remains our wintertime friend, a splash of red against the pure white snow
This is all part of the magical beauty of wintertime.
Soon it will be Christmas and a time for joy and thanks for the past
A look forward to the prospects of the New Year

Nice job, Johnny. I suspect that each and every day of our lives is a day of (potential) change... until it isn't.

Lovely. I wish I could write poetry. I've tried many times, but it just doesn't come out right.

the only permanent thing ever in existence
is change
and Johnny ,
you are the one who forges change ...
in the minds of ailing humanity
and so you alone deserve the STAR pages
this should never change

loved the words shared
looking at seasonal changes and changes in our lives is something I like to do---you say it beautifully. Adding Chopin (or any classic piano) for a time of reflection after your words is icing on the cake! ♥
