Samuel Clemens and Haleys Comet

Samuel Clemens, better known as Mark Twain, was born 175 years ago today, on November 30, 1835.

In 1909, Mark Twain said,

"I came in with Haley's comet in 1835. It's coming again next year, and I expect to go out with it. The Almighty has said no doubt, 'Now here are these two unaccountable freaks; they came in together, they must go out together."

Mark Twain and Haleys Comet

Coincidence or prophecy, avid readers of Twain's books, debate the issue of whether or not his 'time travel' ideas were pure fiction or predictions, in his novel, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, after foreseeing his own death coinciding with the return of Haley's Comet.

Mark Twain's Novels

A few of Mark Twain's novels include:

The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
The Prince and the Pauper
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
Tom Sawyer, Detective
A Dog's Tale
A Horse's Tale
The Mysterious Stranger
