Tomorrow's Dreams and Yesterday's Kisses

These were the mean streets, that lonely part of town where no one walks at night, where no one escapes, but those with athletic prowess and those lucky enough to see the stars.

Tomorrow's Dreams and Yesterday's Kisses

Tomorrow’s Dreams and Yesterday's Kisses

No one walks these streets
except calico children
by the dozen
standing in wrinkled postures
with empty pockets,
each seemingly lost
in a musical trance.

Timed at Best

No one comes here
except heavy tongued policeman
and drug salesmen
who talk with noisy hands,

timed at best,
always watching their backs.

No One Stays Here

No one stays here
under the heavy yoke
of another early night
as ragged people
with sour faces
scour for passersby,
hoping for a dollar in the hand
and a wallet
from a pocket
unseen and unfelt,
each one hiding
under the street lamp’s

cycloptic eye.

No One Lives Here

No one lives here
not in day time
nor night.
For this is that emptiness
where pitiable people hide
behind barred doors
and shuttered windows

ever watching
as entangled lovers
pause a moment
under lamplight
that there is nothing left
for them here-
but this one- -
last- - -
disheveled kiss.

I have been writing since the beginning of time it seems, not because I want to write, but because I have too. My favorite form of writing is poetry, all kinds and types of poetry.
