This is a story poem about being trapped at a traffic light. This is not about me. I hope you enjoy this one.

Trapped

My car was at a street light
the other day when the green
one turned to yellow.
It needed to turn left.
Okay now my car can
go. Yes, whoops, hold it!
Here comes a fire truck
50 miles per hour heading
into the intersection.
Wow, now here comes
an ambulance 60 miles per hour.
My car had better wait.
Wow, now here comes a
police car 70 miles per hour,
closing the gap in the race.
My car had better wait.

(Continued)

Wow, now here comes some
kid 90 miles per
hour in his hot rod Lincoln.
He looked at his friend and
said. We can catch'em. I
can beat that light.

Continued:

Yea, now we can hurry and go.
A few days later I got
a letter from the DMV.
A ticket for running a
red light at 1st and Central.
Please remit $250 or
show in court 5 October 2012 8 A. M.
I said, Honey, what
were you doing in town
on this day?
You know you can't
drive without a licensed driver.
"Honey," she said, "I was
getting a present for your
birthday.
I traded a shotgun
and a pair of roller skates
I bought for you
to Janet while sitting at
a light at 1st and Central.
She gave me that TV
you are watching right now.
Hey, look there on your
news. Isn't that your
car running a red light.?

Isn't that poetry in motion?
